Given the Sanctuary's tendancy to use widespread wireless controlled drones in combat, the Sanctuary Worlds quickly learned a great deal about ECM technology, including how to harden drones against it. A side benefit is that they learned a lot about hardening their normal mechs and tanks even further against enemy ECM effects.  The end result is this, the standard Sanctuary ECM equipment.  While not as powerful as the best ECM the Inner Sphere can muster, Sanctuary ECM comes with the die befenfit of reinforcing nearby ECM fields instead of overriding them like Inner Sphere ECM does and Granting the carrying unit virtual immunity to enemy sensor locks.

ECM's "defense against being hit" status effect does not stack, only the strongest effect present will be counted. This applies to both the personal protection (a 'mech with ECM and C3i only benefits from one of the "+1 defense against being hit" effects, not both) and the aura (four 'mechs with Guardian ECM and one 'mech with Angel ECM all huddled together applies +2 defense to all in the bubble, not +5).

Standard ECM

Guardian ECM

The Guardian ECM Suite was introduced in 2597 by Johnston Industries of the Terran Hegemony. Designed to interfere with guided weaponry, targeting computers, and communication systems, the Guardian was typically used to shield allied units from such equipment by emitting a broad-band signal meant to confuse radar, infrared, ultraviolet, magscan and sonar sensors.

Manufacturer: Johnston
Tonnage: 1.5
Critical Slots: 1
Install Location: Any
Value: 430,000
Gear ID: Gear_Guardian_ECM

Equipped Effects:

  • +1 defense against being hit
  • 150m radius ECM field that protects allied 'Mechs

Critical Effects:

  • DESTROYED: Equipped effects disabled

Notes:

  • ECM has a 150m radius aura which is shown by a white segmented ring around the equipped 'mech. Allies must be within that ring in order to share the +1 defense against being hit

Guardian ECM (C)

The Clans used the Guardian as the basis for their own ECM Suite, which was lighter and more compact than the Inner Sphere model but functioned identically. In the honor-bound fighting style of the Clans, the system did not see much use, but following their return to the Inner Sphere the Clans have since begun to outfit more machines with ECM systems.

Angel ECM

The Angel ECM Suite is an advanced version of the Guardian ECM Suite operating on a broader spectrum and greatly advances ECM technology on the battlefield. Development of the Angel began in the Draconis Combine shortly after the Battle of Luthien, but despite assistance from ComStar, cost overruns and internal problems within both powers kept it in its experimental stages for a long time and delayed its widespread deployment.

Experimental ECM

Experimental EWAR Suite

Prototype Electronic Warfare component. Adds a defensive ECM field for the carrying unit and adds the Active Probe ability to unit's weapons panel. Active Probe is a triggered ability that uses the firing action and performs a Sensor Lock against all enemies within range. Unique gear for the Raven RVN-1X and the Cataphract CTF-0X, it is fixed gear and cannot be removed from the 'Mech.

Manufacturer: Achernar
Tonnage: 7.5
Critical Slots: 4
Install Location: Left Torso
Value: 370,000
Gear ID: Gear_Experimental_EWAR

Equipped Effects:

  • +20% increased sensor range
  • +2 defense against being hit
  • Enables the Active Probe Ping ability on the equipped 'Mech

Critical Effects:

  • DESTROYED: Equipped effects disabled.

Notes:

  • There is no ECM radius on this unit, the defense against being hit is only for the equipped 'Mech

X-1 EW Equipment

Prototype Electronic Warfare component. Adds an ECM field that provides a passive defense against attacks. The EW Suite also adds the Active Probe ability to unit's weapons panel. Active Probe is a triggered ability that uses the firing action and performs a Sensor Lock against all enemies within range. Note: you can only equip one Prototype component on most 'Mechs. Unique gear for the Raven RVN-3X, It is fixed gear and cannot be removed from the 'Mech.

Manufacturer: Ceres Arms
Tonnage: 7.5
Critical Slots: 4

Anti-Missile ECM

Designed and integrated into the experimental Raven-4LX, the Anti-Missile ECM combines the circuitry of a Guardian ECM with a unique sensor scrabler that interfers with incoming missile targeting. The Anti-Missile ECM emits a special signal that actively scrambles incoming missile fire in an area around the unit, keeping the Raven-4LX and its allies safe under even the heaviest weapons fire. However, the effect proved prone to maintenance woes and remains experimental. Unique gear for the Raven RVN-4LX, it is fixed gear and cannot be removed from the 'Mech.

Manufacturer: Hellespont
Tonnage: 3
Critical Slots: 3
Install Location: Center Torso
Value: 1000000
Gear ID: Gear_AntiMissile_ECM

Equipped Effects:

  • +1 defense against being hit by normal attacks
  • Additional +4 defense against being hit by missile attacks. This effect stacks with the above +1 defense
  • 120m radius ECM field that protects allied 'Mechs

Critical Effects:

  • DESTROYED: Equipped effects disabled
