Description

The Scorpion-1A was initially an attempt to create a mobile artillery support mech by modifying the standard Scorpion-1N. The designers planned to use a full Sniper Artillery piece to this end, but the suits insisted that the original 330 core be kept in-place, primarily as a cost saving measure as replacing the engine core would be an 'unnecessary expense'. Unfortunately, an ill-timed joke about sawing off the barrel of the Sniper led to the installation of a Sniper Artilery Cannon. However, the high ground speed ensures the cannon can always reach its target.

Description

Designed and employed by the Terran Hegemony in the 2500s, the Scorpion is among the very earliest quadruped mechs and is partially responsible for quads having a bad name for most of their history. The Scorpion is famous for its uneven and rough gait which disguises the fact that the Scorpion is a very capable fire support design. With a high ground speed and a rock-solid PPC, the Scorpion can provide reliable support for armored forces at any range. A SRM-6 gives some up-close punch as a last resort.

Description

One of the few quadruped 'Mechs in service in Periphery armies, the Scorpion's bad reputation is largely overlooked by Periphery MechWarriors due to the design's high ground speed and flexible combat roles. The SCP-1PA is armed for a stand-off fight and can keep range against most enemies thanks to its 330-rated Prototype XL engine. Armed with two Chem PPCs for range as well as a Reloading RL-15 and a standard RL-10 for close-range punch, the -1PA has plenty of firepower for everyone. 10 SHS and 3 Freezer DHS keep the waste heat well contained.

Description

This 3060s version of the Scorpion is similar to the original design. The engine has been upgraded to an Extralight engine and it now uses Ferro-Fibrous armor for protection. The primary weapon is an ER PPC and the 12C has double heat sinks to handle the large heat load from the weapon. The SRM-6 was replaced with a Narc Missile Beacon which allows friendly units to fire missiles at enemies that have been tagged with a Narc pod with more accuracy. Additionally, a C3i computer has been added to allow other C3 equipped units to share targeting telemetry.

Description

Crafted by House Kurita to use their new Medium-Range Missile system as well as make use of the surplus of old Star League Scorpions the DCMS had no other real use for, the SCP-12M is a simple machine. Powered by a 330-rated light engine and with bones of Endo-Steel, the -12M keeps the tradition Scorpion speed. It uses that immense speed to bring a clean loadout of a MRM-40 with Apollo missiles and an ER Medium Laser to bear on its foes. Double heat sinks keep the mech cold and additional armor over the base model keeps it well-defended.

Description

Designed and employed by the Terran Hegemony in the 2500s, the Scorpion is among the very earliest quadruped mechs and is partially responsible for quads having a bad name for most of their history. The 12S variant of the Scorpion is produced by Defiance Industries and is a complete redesign of the Scorpion. The 'Mech is constructed using an Endo Steel chassis and is powered by a light fusion engine. The saved weight is used to upgrade the primary weapon to an LB-X Autocannon/10 and for close range combat the Scorpion retains its SRM-6 launcher.

Description

The Word of Blake is responsible for many things but among them is a renewed interest in technological development. One of their achievements was the Variable-Speed Pulse Laser family. To field-test their new VSPLs, the Word employed old mothballed Scorpion chassis leading to this, the -12W. Armed with a Large VSPL, an MML-7, and an AMS for defense, the -12W proved adept on the battlefield. The high speed and good armor kept the Scorpion in the fight so the VSPL could do its work.

Description

This Scorpion is one of a lance-worth of semi-unique 'Mechs designed by the Draconis Combine for ultimate blackop uses. Called the Tsuchigumo, it uses a combination of CLPS and NullSignature stealth systems to be virtually invisible. Armed with a pair of Light PPCs with a PPC Capacitor as well as a TAG, the Tsuchigumo is the ultimate harassment unit. A Supercharger provides excellent maneuverability while an ECM suite combines with the stealth systems for maximum defensive boosts.

Description

The Scorpion-15MPA 'Wind Scorpion' is a rough, but surprisingly serviceable, attempt to duplicate the capabilities of the 12M variant's high speed MRM40 delivery system. Produced by Periphery Arms for a variety of minor states and more dubious clients, it is marketed as a relatively inexpensive heavy scout. It bears an impressive spread of 60 rocket launcher tubes fitted with reloaders to make use of 2 tons of MRM ammo that 'fell off a truck' somewhere near Tortuga and carries an XL350 engine and an endo-steel structure and is kept cool by a total of 16 standard heat sinks in all but the most hostile environments.

Description

Named after its pilot's habit of shooting opponents when they're down, The Slayer is a brutal short-range combatant that rarely leaves survivors much less salvage. Armed with an Ultra AC/20 as well as five tubes worth of Piercing SRMs, The Slayer packs an incredible punch into a Scorpion's small frame. Somehow it also manages to keep the high Scorpion ground speed, though it pays for it with a lack of good armor protection. Still, the 'Mech has a long string of successes in the arenas so it clearly is doing something right.

Description

The Scorpion is a powerful and adept flanker design, built to scuttle circles around enemies and blast them into dust with ease. In that vein is the SCP-SB, a mercenary refit of the Scorpion that makes use of captured Large Variable-Speed Pulse Lasers, each enhanced with a Laser Fire Control System, for primary firepower.
