Description
The 1DS variant of the Griffin was intended to become the new standard model for the Federated Commonwealth. The engine was upgraded to an extralight engine, fourteen double heat sinks improved cooling and the weapons were upgraded. The 'Mech now carried a LRM-20 launcher over the right shoulder and a Large Pulse Laser in the right arm. It also employed CASE to protect the two tons of missile reloads stored in the left torso.

Description
Based on the personal ‘Mech of Elle Bennett of the Fifth Donegal Guards, the LRM launcher has been replaced with five medium lasers, one mounted in each torso, one beside the PPC and two in Sparky's left arm. The additional weight saved goes towards an extra heat sink and an additional ton of armor.

Description
The original Griffin produced by Maxwell Manufacturing, Inc. weighed sixty tons (thus technically falling into the Heavy category of BattleMechs) and used primitive components. This Griffin was resurrected by Periphery manufacturing firms due to the ease of construction and received a new refit: a Chemical PPC and a Gyrojet-15 for punch. 3 jump jets keep it mobile, at least by Periphery standards.

This Griffin has been heavily customized in service to the mercenary unit Johann's Jaegers. Driven by the company's commander, Hauptmann Johann 'Tanzer' von Heidelberg, this Griffin carried the Hauptmann through Operation Bulldog and Task Force Serpent and directly contributed to the downfall of Clan Smoke Jaguar. Description
The Griffin has long been a mainstay of the Lyran Commonwealth, to the point that a pair of them have stood beside the Archon's throne for centuries. At some point, those Griffins were updated to a unique variant, the -1RG, to better reflect their role in protecting the Archon at close-range. The -1RG is a Succession Wars-era variant, repurposed for the battlefield. Armed with a Large Laser, 3 Medium Lasers, 2 Small Lasers, and 2 Machine Guns, it is uniquely suited to its origins of close-quarters defense.

The Griffin was a mainstay of Hegemony armies and so it became a mainstay of Sanctuary armies as well. Because it was so ubiquitous in their armies, the Griffin lent itself to many specialized refits. One such refit is the GRF-2F, a flame-based loadout. Armed with twin DXRs and twin Flamers, as well as an APM-4 with exclusively Inferno ammo, the -2F can burn through just about anything in seconds. However, it has to hope the heat is enough because it can do little to no actual damage to hardened targets.

Description
The Griffin was a mainstay of Hegemony armies and so it became a mainstay of Sanctuary armies as well. Armed with a simple, yet effective, loadout of a NPC, a VRM-12, and a Medium Lance, the Griffin-2H proved effective and powerful on the battlefield. Endo-Steel and Ferro-Fibrous armor provided the necessary tonnage for the kit while the traditional 5 jump jets keep the mech mobile and active on the battlefield.

Description
This Griffin is a one-off refit of the old Griffin GRF-2N from the Star League. Nicknamed 'Greed' due to the circumstances of its acquisition, the mech shifts the -2N away from a brawler and towards a mid to long-range fire-support design more akin to the classic Griffin's role. Greed performs relatively ably in that role, though it is still a Griffin at heart and so behaves like most other Griffins.

Description
The Griffin was a mainstay of Hegemony armies and so it became a mainstay of Sanctuary armies as well. The GRF-2V is the epitome of mobile fire support. Armed with twin VRM-18s, the -2V wants nothing more than to stay far away from the enemy and bombard them with missiles from afar. Up close, it can only call on a pair of Twin-Linked Small Lasers, paltry defense at best. 4 tons of VRM ammo keep the missiles flying while an XL Engine provides the necessary tonnage for the heavy launchers.

Description
The 3M Griffin was an upgraded version of the design built for House Marik that sought to enhance the original's long-range capabilities. The engine was exchanged for a extralight model and carried fourteen double heat sinks. The normal PPC was replaced by a ER PPC and the LRM launcher had been upgraded to a LRM-20 launcher for more indirect fire support capabilities. Finally a Small Laser was mounted in the left torso and the two tons of LRM reloads in the left torso were protected by CASE.

Description
The Griffin has long been a mainstay of the Lyran Commonwealth, to the point that a pair of them have stood beside the Archon's throne for centuries. At some point, those Griffins were updated to a unique variant, the -1RG, to better reflect their role in protecting the Archon at close-range. The -3RG is a Clan Invasion-era variant, repurposed for the battlefield. Armed with a Large Pulse Laser, a Medium Laser, 2 Medium Pulse Lasers, 2 Small Pulse Lasers, and 2 Machine Guns, it is uniquely suited to its origins of close-quarters defense.

Description
A favorite of the LCAF since time immemorial, the Griffin was a natural fit when the Federated Commonwealth went looking for a test platform for the Extended LRM system. The -3S is a simple, lightweight, refit of old GRF-1Ns still in service. Armed with an ER PPC and an Extended LRM-10, the GRF-3S is powered by a 275-rated Light Fusion Engine and retains the jump jets of its progenitor. 11 DHS keep it all cold.

The GRF-5M takes the Griffin's mission of mobile fire support to its logical conclusion. While it carries the traditional LRM rack (in this case a LRM-10), the GRF-5M replaces the traditional energy-based loadout with a Light Gauss Rifle for a very Marik twist. With one ton of ammo for both guns, the Griffin rarely runs out of ammunition, though if it does a Small Laser is all it can defend itself with. Double Heat Sinks, an XL engine, and five jump jets round out the loadout.

When you think of the Griffin, what comes to mind? A PPC and LRM combo, I'd think. Well, that's not this Griffin. PPCs are expensive and hard to produce but Heavy Rifles aren't, even with the Rifle Revolver attachment to double up their damage. There's still a LRM-15 for backup though and an Improved Small Binary Laser provides close-range defense. This tonnage is paid for with a Protoype XL engine.

Originally developed by ComStar to replenish ComGuard losses after Operation Odysseus, the Griffin -6CS is similar to the Lyran Commonwealth's -6S model. Word of Blake ROM has also ensured it is in their arsenal as well. It uses an XL engine and Endo Steel skeleton to provide the tonnage for an ER PPC, an Artemis IV augmented LRM-15, and 2 ER Medium Lasers. A C3i Computer and an ECM suite round out a robust medium for both the Word of Blake and ComStar.

Created by a pilot who lost the LRM rack off his Griffin, the -6CV replaces the long-range payload with a mid-range weapon system: a MRM 30. Backing up the MRM rack is an ER PPC with a PPC Capacitor for extra punch. To keep the heat under control, the -6CV mounts double heat sinks and is powered by a Light Fusion Engine for speed. It also has gained a little armor for extra survivability

Description
The rebirth of the Terran Hegemony brought with it a need for a restarted military sector among the core worlds of the Inner Sphere. To meet the new Hegemony's demand for material, the various corporations of the Inner Sphere got right to work on new variants for the Hegemony's war machine. One such design is the GRF-6R, a new variant meant to display the dominance of the Hegemony over its rivals. Built on a 275-rated Light Fusion Engine with an Endo-Composite skeleton, the -6R uses a Large X-Pulse Laser and MML-9 w/ Artemis IV for firepower. Five jump jets keep the Griffin mobile in any terrain.

This allowed the 6S model to carry an ER PPC in the right arm, a LRM-15 over the right shoulder with Artemis IV, and two ER Medium Lasers, one in the center torso and one in the left arm. It carried twelve tons of armor plating but only ten double heat sinks. Two tons of LRM reloads were mounted in the right torso and protected by CASE.
