Description
The Balar was concepted by Luthien Armor Works after the Clan Invasion and was based on Smoke Jaguar Ebon Jaguars, captured during the Battle of Luthien. Built around a similarly fast 350-rated XL Engine and constructed on a similar, but heavier, Endo-Steel frame than its progenitor, the Balar entered production right at the end of the 3050s and was fairly rapidly sold to other manufacturers throughout the Inner Sphere in order to recoup manufacturing costs. The Balar's Prime configuration uses a LB-10X Autocannon for primary punch while an ER PPC and LRM-10 cover longer ranges. A Streak SRM-2 helps to ward away pesky light mechs that get too close for comfort.

For extra battlefield utility it carries a BAP and to keep it cold it carries 15 DHS.

The Balar's C is a mixed attacker, using a LB-2X Autocannon and twin LRM-15s for long range firepower while making use of twin SRM-4s at close range. Five total tons of CASE protected ammunition keep the guns firing in any situation.

The Balar's R configuration dates to Operation Bulldog, where the Balar was field-tested against the Smoke Jaguars. Armed with a panoply of Clantech including a Gauss Rifle, LB-5X, and several lasers as well as an Inner Sphere MRM and ER Small Laser, the R config is deadly at any range.
