Description
The Guillotine was originally designed in 2499 as a front-line BattleMech for the Terran Hegemony and was the Star League Defense Force's standard heavy 'Mech for generations. The collapse of the Star League destroyed production of the design until the discovery of the Helm Memory Core, when the Guillotine was put back into production at last. The Guillotine would go on to serve with distinction in numerous conflicts. The GLT-3N is the original SLDF variant. Armed with a Large Laser, 4 Medium Lasers, and a SRM-6 as well as 25 standard heat sinks and a quartet of jump jets, the -3N is a rock-solid machine.

A mainstay of Sanctuary Worlds armies, the Guillotine serves as a line anchor for any combat force. Built on an Endo-Steel frame, the Guillotine has plenty of space to work with for firepower. The GLT-4H is armed with a pair of Large Lances for primary firepower. To back them up it carries a Large Electro-Laser for punch at close-range and a Twin-Linked Laser for no-frills firepower. A massive brace of 19 Sanctuary DHS keep it all cold.

Description
The 4L Guillotine is a downgraded version of the original 3N model introduced in 2825. Although 3N used a significant number of off-the-shelf components, the two exceptions were its Endo Steel internal structure and CASE to protect its ammunition bay. The 4L was a simple redesign that consisted of utilizing a standard internal structure, removing its CASE system and three single heat sinks to free up the necessary tonnage.

The GLT-4V is an unusual twist on the standard Guillotine. Armed primarily with a VRM-18 for extreme range firepower, the -4V wants to play keep away as much as possible. However, when forced to close it can bring its DXR and quartet of Medium Electro-Lasers to bear against the foe. 16 DHS try to keep the heat managed but largely fail at the task.

The 5M model is a redesign performed after the technological renaissance that started in the late 3040s. Introduced in 3049 the 5M is a 'Mech that is nearly identical to the original 3N. With the sole exception of the primary weapon being upgraded to a Sunbeam ER Large Laser model for extended reach, the 5M has an almost identical weaponry configuration, speed profile, and armor coverage as the 3N.

Description
The 8D variant introduced in 3062 picks up where the 5M left off. All of the lasers have been upgraded to ER versions (for a total of 4 ER Mediums) and the SRM-6 has been replaced with a Streak SRM-6 while an additional ER Large Laser has been added to the design. The heat sinks have also been upgraded to double heat sinks. Finally, to make the design even deadlier than it was before, a Targeting Computer has been added.
