v10.0 (aka the "Motha-Fuggin' Tanks" release) has been released to the installer. This is a major major update, read on to see why:

* Fixes a major tank issue that prevented salvaging parts off of tanks.

* Edits the AI somewhat heavily, this is an experiment to see if the AI is improved in terms of heat control and melee use.

* Three new Community Content 'mechs added: The Corsair COR-7A2, the Fafnir FNR-5R and the Mad Cat MK II MC-85 (a unique 85t variant).

* New Community Content pilot: Ranger

IMPORTANT: v9.4.1 is an "update" update. Run the installer again to let it just update your files and you're set to go. The installer auto-updates the CAB and injects Modtek for you.

**HOLY SHIT THIS IS IMPORTANT READ THE HELL OUT OF THIS:** v10.0 is a <u>SAVE BREAKING UPDATE</u>. Your old saves are *not* compatible and you *will* need to restart your career. This was a necessity for a number of reasons, sorry, but this was the best time to do it.

IMPORTANT: v9.4.1 is not a save-breaking update, your saves are compatible.
+
**THIS IS IMPORTANT IIC:** v10.0 *hard requires* a new installer. We have updated the installer on the Nexus, you MUST get it to get v10.0. This was done to repair a critical issue that we discovered in the installer. Since we are save-breaking this update anyway, this was the best time to force an installer update.

IMPORTANT: You can see v9.4.1's patch notes, as well as any BTA patch notes, on our wiki on this page: https://www.bta3062.com/index.php/Patch_Notes

NEW FUNCTIONALITY: Playable Tanks have rumbled onto the field of battle! Tanks can now be purchased from shops, as well as salvaged from the battlefield. Note that only *some* tanks are available for purchase and to be salvaged, not all tanks, so you can't get everything, just a select curated list we've put together. All five Great Houses, ComStar, and the four major Periphery states (Taurians, Canopians, Outworlds, Marians) will sell you their unique tank lists. Additionally, there are general Inner Sphere and Periphery tank lists in stores. Tanks have a few oddnesses, please see the FAQ post about playable tanks for details. Tanks *do* count against your overall drop tonnage, so keep that in mind.

REMINDER: Custom mod commissions are still available if you're interested. If you'd like to get your own community content added to BTA DM me, bloodydoves, and we can work something out.
+
NEW FUNCTIONALITY: Tanks have been a source of consternation for a lot of players. The main complaint was that stripping evasion from tanks was difficult. Well, that's fixed now. If you use melee against tanks, specifically a kick, it will strip 2 evasion off of them. Yet another reason to give 'em the boot.

------
+
UPDATED FUNCTIONALITY: Consecutive bleedout injuries now stack together instead of running in parallel like they used to. If you have a bleedout injury and you suffer another one, it multiplies your current timer by 0.75 and that's your new bleedout timer. This *can* put you to 0 rounds, eject or die, so keep an eye on it.

v9.4 (aka the "Kamea Has Had Enough Of Your Shit" update) has been released to the installer. This patch is surprisingly dense so let's hop to it.
+
NEW FACTION (kinda): St. Ives now starts as a faction on the map to begin with. They will be invaded by the Capellans fairly quickly after your career starts, so if you want to make friends, you better do it quick. They also won't be around forever and will cease to exist as a faction eventually, so make friends fast! They also can be allied with as originally intended all along, whoops!

NEW... SOMETHING: Kamea Arano has had it up to here with the Inner Sphere's bullshit and is out for blood. Keep an eye out, rumor is she's on the warpath. To where is a good question, no one's really sure. Keep an eye open.
+
NEW MECH: The Falcon, an old SLDF 30 ton light bug-hunting mech, has arrived in a flash. You can find it with ComStar and the Clans, as well as mercenaries and rarely the Kuritans.

NEW INSTALLER FUNCTIONALITY: The first batch of BTA Community Content has been rolled into BTA and is available in the Installer as an option in the Clan module. Community content is funded by the community via commissioning me to make things. Community content is not guaranteed to be balanced or lore-friendly in any way at all, installer beware. It's a lot of cool stuff though, so maybe give it a shot!
+
NEW MODEL: The Bane has received a very nice updated model. It's lookin' real sharp!

NEW FUNCTIONALITY: IIC has been updated. Now, there are two kinds of flareups: attacks and raids. Attacks are the ones you're familiar with where control changes hands. Raids are new and are resource-gathering raids that do *not* change territory, but if the raider wins they gain future strength for future territory changing attacks. This way, you can support and build up a favored faction over time.
+
COMMUNITY CONTENT: A number of new mechs and pilots have been added into the Community Content option. Included are a Roughneck, Enfield, BattleMaster, Stormcrow, and two new pilots (Kotare and Mad Dawg). Go check 'em out!

NEW FUNCTIONALITY: Gunnery as a skill has been somewhat overhauled. The skill was a little bland and weak, so we've buffed it up a bit. The Guts 5 and Guts 7 -1/-2 recoil reductions abilities been moved to Gunnery 5 and 7. At Gunnery 4 and 9, all pilots will now gain a minor jam chance reduction. Additionally, at Gunnery 4, all pilots will receive a 15% chance to deal 15% more stability damage. At Gunnery 6, pilots will receive a 15% chance to deal 15% more heat damage. And at Gunnery 9, pilots will receive a 15% chance to deal 15% more standard damage. These chances apply to any weapon attack that deals one of those damage types (it will not add heat damage to attacks that don't generate it already nor will it add stability damage to attacks that don't generate it already). NOTE: You will need to retrain your pilots in order to get the benefits of these changes if they are already at Gunnery 4 or higher.
+
WIKI UPDATE: We now have active Gear pages, meaning pretty much everything you can put on a mech now has its own page on the wiki for your education. Read away!

* Weapon Icons now match their mechbay filter icons (so all weapons on the Gauss tab have the Gauss icon, etc). This is purely visual and doesn't change their hardpoint or anything, it's just a nice visual refresh.
+
* The Operation Bullcat Aurigan Invasion April Fools event has been removed.
* The Tortugans will now raid the Davion border near them as well as a couple of Taurian worlds. The Hansa will now raid the Chainelane Isles. These are our new WarTech IIC raids, not territory control.
+
* Local government planets on the starmap are now a white color, instead of that nearly invisible dark red.
* The Timeline fluff events now generate map flareups as per fluff. Importantly, this can introduce a brand-new faction right near the start of a career as St. Ives rebels against their Capellan masters, which can lead to St. Ives existing on the map where it did not before. Go make friends (or not, you do you)!
+
* Resized some mechs, including several Thugs and the Icarus II.
* The Clint and the Conjurer have updated portraits.
+
* The Marauder MAD-5X is now going to be a little less common, it was appearing way too much.
* The Shadow Hawk in the first story campaign mission has been swapped out for an Osprey, after player dissatisfaction with the Shadow Hawk's performance. The Kintaro/Centurion 10#CN10-B remain unchanged.
+
* Players are now immediately allied with the "Self-Employed" faction, meaning you get as good salvage as possible on those Darius missions.
* Piercing AC ammo should proc crits now.
+
* The Fafnir II and the Mad Cat Mk II - 85 both actually have affinities now.
* The Piercing Lasers do reduced crits.
+
* The campaign flashpoint mission Treasure Trove, the escape from the SLDF Castle, has been updated. Player mechs are slightly improved, Taurians have been toned down.
* Mortar Suppressant ammo has had its rather absurd radius heavily reduced.
+
* The campaign flashpoint Atlas has been swapped for an Atlas II, should be better.
* FASCAM ammos now have clearer descriptive text.
+
* Sprinter now works with combat vehicles of all kinds.
* The LAC/2 now behaves like the AC/2 and fires a burst of three shots.
+
* The AI has been slightly updated again, should be slightly smarter.
* Reinforcement and other "newly" spawned units are forced into the last initiative phase. They retain their drop protection evasion but they no longer immediately act and ruin your day. If you reserve down to 1 with them though, that's on you (don't do that).
+
* A large number of bonus descriptions have been updated for clarity.
* Spawn protection for both the player and the AI is increased to 8 pips. 6 was insufficient to heavily curb player damage on spawn, so it was increased to further protect the player from unfortunate spawns.
+
* Now if you lose your Center Torso you are more likely to take pilot injuries, that was broken before and has been fixed.
* A new Locust, with Hardened Armor and an XXL engine, has been added.
+
* Grenade Launcher Inferno ammo has been toned down a bit.
* Acid and Tandem SRM ammo descriptions have been clarified and also both nerfed slightly.
+
* IIC should now better respect contract requirements, so no more getting stuck in a flareup contract you can't actually do.
* Wulfbanes will now arrive with a custom Commando, tuned to his detailed specifications. The COM-WB is unique to the event and might be a little more impressive and worth keeping around.
+
* The LAC2 and LAC5 have received more heat generated and a slight damage reduction.
* The Excavator Mech's backhoe and digger claw have both been nerfed strongly.
+
* A number of new mech variants have been added, the Vindicator VND-1SIC, Commando COM-1AK, and four primitive Phoenix variants (PK-1KC, PK-1KL, PK-1KR, PK-1KT).
* The Ambient Targeter has been buffed up somewhat.
+
* Some core dlls updated.
* The Stealth Field has been buffed up somewhat.

* Mech Grenade Launchers no longer shoot in melee.

* LAMs now have proper DFA self-damage reduction as they always should have had. This also applies to their falling damage.

* Lots of RepMe fixes have been implemented, including fixes for that persistent "Charger Turret" issue.

* Lots of WIIC/PMP/TBAS bug fixes.

Latest Patch Notes

v10.0 (aka the "Motha-Fuggin' Tanks" release) has been released to the installer. This is a major major update, read on to see why:

**HOLY SHIT THIS IS IMPORTANT READ THE HELL OUT OF THIS:** v10.0 is a SAVE BREAKING UPDATE. Your old saves are *not* compatible and you *will* need to restart your career. This was a necessity for a number of reasons, sorry, but this was the best time to do it.

NEW MECH: The Falcon, an old SLDF 30 ton light bug-hunting mech, has arrived in a flash. You can find it with ComStar and the Clans, as well as mercenaries and rarely the Kuritans.

NEW MODEL: The Bane has received a very nice updated model. It's lookin' real sharp!

COMMUNITY CONTENT: A number of new mechs and pilots have been added into the Community Content option. Included are a Roughneck, Enfield, BattleMaster, Stormcrow, and two new pilots (Kotare and Mad Dawg). Go check 'em out!

WIKI UPDATE: We now have active Gear pages, meaning pretty much everything you can put on a mech now has its own page on the wiki for your education. Read away!
