Description
The result of a couple Mercenary companies joining together to find something less dangerous, the modified SHD-2K, dubbed the 'Periphery Hawk' by its detractors was meant to be simple but not lacking. The venerable Shadow Hawk chassis uses a primitive engine to save costs. To help counter the extra weight Light Plating Armor was installed. Weapon-wise the 'Mech has a set of 3 Binary Medium Lasers in its left torso. The right torso contains a Rocket Launcher 20, and the right arm had its actuators removed to make room for a small stash of MRM ammo, which is fed to the right torso by a (somewhat inconsistent) ammo feed. 17 heat sinks work to keep the Blazer and Rocket Launcher's heat in line.

Description
First introduced in 2467, this first generation of the Shadow Hawk employs early BattleMech technology in its weaponry, equipment and its armor. This design was first produced by Lang Industries on Caph, where it was designed as part of the Hegemony's efforts to keep ahead of the Inner Sphere's newly stolen BattleMech technology. The SHD-1R was equipped with a single shoulder mounted Class 5 autocannon and a single medium laser.

Description
The Shadow Hawk 2D is an interesting model. Its default payload sacrifices a lot of armor to mount a bit more firepower, though some argue the tradeoff isn't worth it. Its Alpha Strikes are better, though, so… I guess you can be the judge.

Description
The Shadow Hawk 2H is the perfect example of a 'jack-of-all-trades.' It supports weaponry for all ranges, has respectable speed and jump capability, and mounts decent armor. This comes at the cost of excelling at nothing in particular.

Description
The Shadow Hawk 2Hb was designed for the Star League's Royal regiments, which changed the mission profile to favor close range engagements exclusively. The -2Hb has little at range but is deadly dangerous up close thanks to its heavy weapons load.

Description
Produced for Tukayyid by ComStar in order to hunt and destroy Clan Elemental suits, the SHD-2Ht proved able, if unexceptional, at the job. Armed with a brace of basic lasers, one Large and twin Mediums, as well as a whopping five Streak SRM-2 launchers, the SHD-2Ht proved quite capable of vaporizing Elementals, though it struggled somewhat against harder targets. ComStar did not keep the -2Ht in production post-Tukayyid, though occasional examples could be found among the forces of the ComGuard after that great conflict's end.

Description
The SHD-5D is a Davion upgrade of the venerable Shadow Hawk that gives it a very traditionally Davion twist. The -5D uses an Endo-Steel skeleton and Ferro-Fibrous armor to free up a large amount of tonnage which permits it to mount a Rotary Autocannon/5 as its primary weapon. A Streak SRM-4 and twin Medium Lasers back up the RAC at closer ranges. The -5D proved reliable and slowly became the preferred Davion refit for the Shadow Hawk.

Description
The 5M Shadow Hawk is the first complete overhaul and upgrade of the design, unveiled by Earthwerks for the Free Worlds League. The chassis has been upgraded to an Endo Steel frame, an additional ton of armor was added, two additional jump jets were fitted, the engine replaced with an extralight version, and the weapons load has undergone a complete renovation. The original autocannon has been updated to an Ultra Autocannon/5, the LRM launcher to a LRM-20, and the head-mounted SRM launcher to a Streak SRM-2.

Description
The Shadow Hawk is a venerable chassis, dating back to the Age of War, and was one of the premier 'Mechs of the Terran Hegemony during their heyday. When the Hegemony returned, it was decided to update the Shadow Hawk, now a common chassis in use by all the Great Houses, for the new era. To that end, the SHD-5R was introduced. Built on an Endo-Steel frame and a Light Fusion Engine, the SHD-5R rectifies an odd oversight: the fact that no Shadow Hawk carries a full Gauss Rifle. Armed with one such weapon, as well as a SRM-2 and twin ER Medium Lasers, the -5R is a powerful statement about the future of the Hegemony.

Description
The SHD-5S is a bit of a mystery. Only recently de-classified, the -5S is a field refit kit of the -5M meant for long-term guerrilla actions. Armed with a purely energy loadout as well as powerful electronic defenses, the -5S can manage in any environment or situation. It even comes with half a ton of cargo space for the pilot's personal effects and supplies. The Large Laser, 4 Medium Lasers, and Medium Pulse Laser offer no-frills firepower while a TAG permits occasional friendly support. The existence of the -5S is officially denied despite the de-classification, so the real mysteries of the unit are still be uncovered.

Description
Artillery brings to mind a certain image of shelling helpless opponents who can't even begin to fight back against their tormentor. However, the new Howitzer artillery system is not like that as it requires direct line of sight to be effective. Still, the weapon is very powerful, as the SHD-6PA illustrates. Armed with a Howitzer/8 as well as a SRM-2 and twin Medium Lasers the -6PA has a weapon for everyone. Prototype Endo-Steel helps pay for the Howitzer's tonnage while 5 jump jets keep it mobile and ensures it can draw a bead on the enemy every time.

Description
There has always been a question in BattleMech design as to the smallest viable chassis to carry artillery. The SHD-6S tries to put that to rest with its Sniper Artillery. To back up the Sniper and its three tons of ammo, the -6S carries only two Medium Lasers. To carry this huge weight, the -6S is slower than most Shadow Hawks as well as carrying a Light Engine, Endo-Steel structure, and Ferro-Fibrous armor. Still, most commanders are fine with the tradeoffs to bring a highly mobile artillery piece to the battlefield.

Description
The Shadow Hawk -7CS is a fairly typical model of ComStar's new variants. It retains the UAC/5 of the -5M, but drops the Streak SRM and reduces the LRM rack to allow for CASE in the right torso and more ammunition. A second Medium Laser was added, and both are now ER Models. Finally, a C3i Computer was installed for Level II coordination.

Description
Built off of a stock Shadow Hawk SHD-5M, the -7D trades power for reliability. The -5M was often maligned for poor ammunition endurance for its primary weapons, often running them dry even in rather brief combat encounters. To combat this, the -7D drops the LRM-20 and UAC/5 from the -5M in exchange for a LRM-15 and a newly-developed Light Autocannon/10. While the LRM doesn't gain any ammo, the one ton it comes with offers more endurance than it did for the LRM-20. The LAC/10 comes with a full two tons of ammo giving the mech much increased endurance.

Description
A new variant rolling out of the Earthwerks lines, the -7M is heavily focused on ranged support fire, carrying a Light Gauss Rifle and an LRM-15, with a Medium Laser for whatever can close to the Mech. The design so far has not won many plaudits however.

Description
Allegedly a 'Mech piloted by Grayson Death Carlyle, it's highly unlikely that Carlyle ever really owned this variant. Whatever the truth may be, the story certainly draws in the crowds. This Hero 'Mech swaps the AC/5 for an AC/10 with 2 tons of ammunition and carries two Medium Lasers in each arm. The LRM-5 and SRM-2 remain, along with the 3 Jump Jets. Cooling is handled by 12 Double Heat Sinks. The tonnage required for the heavier weapons loadout is freed up by using an XL 275-rated engine and an Endo-Steel structure.
Bonuses
Mech Quirk: Improved Life Support
+1 bonus pilot health, immune to pilot bleedouts
Mech Quirk: Hero Mech
+1 accuracy with ranged weapons, -6 heat at the end of the turn, +2 increased resolve gain
Pilot Affinity: Sturdy
Gains 2 extra pilot hits
Factions
The SHD-GD can only be found as an enemy duelist in Game Worlds contracts.

Description
Designed to make use of a battery of unusual weaponry, the SHD-MKD uses piercing weaponry as well as an experimental Shock Cannon to disrupt enemies from range. Thanks to the Shock Cannon knocking enemies around the initiative order, the SHD-MKD has ample time to deploy its Precision SRM-3s and its LAC/5 with piercing ammo for maximum effect. The SHD-MKD saw limited production.

Description
One of the most beloved and classic trooper designs ever produced, the Shadow Hawk maintained its sterling reputation in the Sanctuary Worlds as the Shadow Hawk II. The -2D is a fork of the base model and uses Endo-Steel and a Sanctuary XL Engine for weight savings and puts that weight towards twin Scattergun/5s, with a VRM-6, DRM-2, and Medium Electro-Laser playing second-fiddle. With plentiful ammunition stores and the Shadow Hawk's traditional limited jump jets, the Shadow Hawk II carries on its predecessor's proud legacy.

Description
Eventually, the Sanctuary Worlds powers realized a dire need in their combat doctrines, that being mech-based artillery and/or fire support. Looking for a quick solution, the Jacobson Haven quickly developed the SHD-2-2F using the newly created Bombard Cannon system. Armed with a pair of Bombard/9s as well as a more traditional VRM-18, the -2F proved very adept at saturating enemy targets from a long distance. However, the speed of the mech's development meant that it entirely lacked close-range armaments, making it effectiveless defenseless up close.

Description
Developed in secrecy and deployed by the Mallard Republic only in the most dire of circumstances, the Shadow Hawk II SHD-2-3G carries a gigantic weapon, the Light Mass Driver. Caapable of immense destruction at extreme range, the Light Mass Driver is a closely guarded secret of the Republic. The remainder of the SHD-2-3G is relatively mundane: a Large Modal Laser is the only remaining armament while Endo-Steel, Ferro-Fibrous, and an XL Engine provide the required tonnage for the mass driver. Finally, 5 Jump Jets permit quick repositioning in case of emergencies.

Description
This 'Mech is a rare Periphery rebuild of the venerable Shadow Hawk chassis that is a complete enough rebuild to warrant a new name, in this case being named the Skadi. Armed for close-range brawling with 6 Machine Guns in two MG Arrays as well as three Heavy Machine Guns (also in a MG Array), the Skadi absolutely tears apart anything in close quarters. At range however, it can only call upon a lone LRM-20 for fire support. A Prototype XL Engine and Prototype Endo-Steel provide weight for the weaponry as well as plentiful armor and 5 jump jets for maneuverability. Finally, a rather out-of-place Guardian ECM provides a little extra security.
