Description

The Butterbee is patterned after the personal ride of MechWarrior Jenny Templeton of the Capellan Chesterton Reserves and turns the Catapult into a brutal heavy brawler in the arena. The Butterbee very simply just switches the heat sinks for doubles and loses the LRM-15s for a quartet of SRM-6s. The four Medium Lasers and the jump jets are retained, of course.

Description

This Civil War era variant is built using an Endo Steel chassis and powered by a 260 extralight engine, using the saved weight to make the C2 a dedicated long range 'Mech. The primary weapons are two LRM-15 launchers mated to an Artemis IV fire control system, and fed by four tons of ammo. The Medium Lasers have been replaced with two LB-X Autocannon/2s, sharing a single ton of ammo. While this makes the Catapult vulnerable to close range attacks, it also makes it extremely deadly at long range.

Description

The C3 variant takes the 'Mech's long range fire support to a new level by removing both of the LRM-15 launchers and replacing them with an Arrow IV artillery system, allowing the Catapult to stay a safe distance from the battlefield. However the design of this model was rushed through by the Capellans, causing a number of faults to reemerge. Chief among these however is the fact that it has a single ton of ammo, giving it a pitiful five reloads and forcing it to stay close to supply lines. The 'Mech is otherwise identical to the C1 model.

Description

Description

The Catapult CPLT-C4CIR is a further testbed variant on the already-testbed C4CR. The C4CIR uses the highly experimental Improved Rapid LRM systems, dropping two Jump Jets to get the heavier systems in place. Otherwise, it is the same as the C4CR.

Description

The Catapult CPLT-C4CR is a testbed chassis to demonstrate the newly invented Rapid LRM system, or RLRM. Armed with two RLRMs in place of the C4C's LRM-20s, the ammo boxes have been deepened, and another heat sink has been added as well as half a ton of armor. The variant proved moderately successful and was put into limited production.

Description

An upgrade of the earlier defective C3 model, this variant first appeared during the St. Ives Conflict. It retains the Arrow IV artillery system, but its chassis has been upgraded to Endo Steel and its heat sinks to improved versions. This allows the C5 to increase its armor coverage to twelve and a half tons, upgrade its lasers to ER Medium Lasers, and quadruple the amount of ammo carried with protection provided by CASE.

Description

The Catapult J1-X was envisioned as an incredibly maneuverable fire support mech. Built around a Composite skeleton, its six experimental Prototype Improved Jump Jets ensured the J1-X could reach any firing position it wished. Two Streak LRM-20 launchers linked to a targetting computer provide highly accurate long ranged firepower, and the Catapult's traditional backup weaponry was parred down to a pair of Static ER M Lasers. CASE II and Heavy Ferro round out the design, preventing its highly explosive components from catastrophic failure. Ultimately, the Composite structure was judged too fragile for usage on a heavy mech, and was not adopted by mainline forces.

Description

Description

An upgrade of the K2 Catapult, the K2K model changes the engine to an extralight model and increases the size to a 325 rating to speed the mech up quite a bit. The twin PPCs also have been upgraded to ER PPCs. The 'Mech carries two ER Medium Lasers for close range firepower. To handle the added heat from the upgrades, the 'Mech uses 20 double heat sinks. Finally, the K2K model carries thirteen and a half tons of armor.

Description

A variant of the -K2, the -K3 was a lostech upgrade of that fire support mech. Though this design never reached full production, it was prototyped during the War of 3039. It upgraded the PPCs of the K2 to ER PPCs. Twenty double heat sinks kept heat to a minimum.

Description

An experimental Lyran design created after taking a number of Kuritan Catapults in salvage, the -K6X has a distinctly Federated Commonwealth flair with its pair of Rotary Autocannon/2s. To back up the Rotaries are a brace of lasers, two Medium Pulses and four Small Pulses. The -K6X powers itself with a 260-rated XL engine and carries 13.5 tons of armor for protection, which is plenty for most battlefield encounters.

Description

A Periphery refit of the Catapult, the -H2 is roughly based on the K2 with a strong Periphery twist. Armed with a PPC in the left arm for ranged firepower and twin Medium Lasers for close-range support, the -H2's main punch comes from eight Rocket Launcher-20s strewn across the body of the 'Mech. Though it only has one shot for the rockets, it can destroy just about anything with that one shot. The -H2 proved popular with the Marian Hegemony as well as various pirate forces.

Description

The CPLT-ML is an... unusual twist on the Catapult's main mission of fire support. Instead of being fire support, the -ML drops all the weapons from the -C1's frame and replaces them with 20 Medium Lasers, ten to an arm. It retains the jump jets of course and even though it swaps the 15 heat sinks to double-strength models, it's woefully inadequate for the job at hand. Still, if you need an alpha strike to rule all alpha strikes, the CPLT-ML has you covered.

Originally made for the Terran Hegemony, the Catapult accompanied the Sanctuary Worlders on their journey far beyond the Inner Sphere. They would develop the mech further, eventually developing the CPLT-S1 standard. Armed for mobile fire support much like the original Catapult, the -S1 carries a pair of VRM-12 launchers as well as a quartet of Medium Modal Lasers. Sanctuary-spec Ferro-Fibrous Armor and Double Heat Sinks round out the design while 4 Jump Jets keep the mech's traditional mobility.

The Catapult CPLT-S2 would be developed to use new weapon systems developed in the Sanctuary Worlds. Armed with a Double-Barrel AC/10 and a Scattergun/10 for primary firepower and with a quartet of Medium Electro-Lasers for secondary firepower, the -S2 proved a capable threat against just about anything. However, as a Sanctuary XL Engine was required to make the tonnage work, the -S2 is slightly more fragile than other Catapult variants.

Description

Originally made for the Terran Hegemony, the Catapult accompanied the Sanctuary Worlders on their journey far beyond the Inner Sphere. The -S4 transforms the Catapult into a potent brawling machine with a battery of DRM launchers backed by a pair of Medium and Small Modal Lasers for support.
