Description
This was the original Thunderbolt design produced in 2491 by Earthwerks Limited, built with Primitive Technology, until the introduction of the modern TDR-5S in 2505. It carries the exact same weapon loadout as the later TDR-5S however, making it still quite threatening.

Description
One of the earliest 'Mech designs ever made, the Thunderbolt accompanied the Sanctuary Worlds on their great journey beyond the Inner Sphere where it became a mainstay of their armies. Meant for combat engineering, the TDR-3E increases the mech's speed with a 325-rated XL engine. It uses this speed to deploy its DXR and twin Bombard Cannon/6s against any enemy. For point-blank, it can call upon a trio of Medium Electro-Lasers while 4 jump jets keep it mobile. 4 tons of ammunition provide the Bombards with plenty of options in combat.
Bonuses

Description
One of the earliest 'Mech designs ever made, the Thunderbolt accompanied the Sanctuary Worlds on their great journey beyond the Inner Sphere where it became a mainstay of their armies. The TDR-3N was designed for durability and endurance above all else. Using a standard fusion engine combined with Ferro-Vanadium armor and Endo-Carbide structure combined with 3 tons of Modular Plating ensures the -3N can endure just about anything. A NPC and Large Electro-Laser provide primary firepower for the mech while an APM-4 with two tons of ammo provides a little battlefield control. Finally, four Jump Jets give the -3N unexpected mobility.

Description
One of the earliest 'Mech designs ever made, the Thunderbolt accompanied the Sanctuary Worlds on their great journey beyond the Inner Sphere where it became a mainstay of their armies. Designed as a true generalist, the Thunderbolt excels at nothing but is good for anything. Armed with a Large Electro-Laser for primary firepower as well as a VRM-12, DRM-4, trio of Medium Electro-Lasers, and a Gatling Gun, the Thunderbolt has a weapon for all ranges and all missions. 15 DHS keep it relatively cool while SHIELD protects the ammunition and 14 tons of armor keep it durable.

Description
The Thunderbolt, despite its generalist origins, often found itself forced into specialized roles during its service in the Sanctuary armies. Such was the case with the TDR-4S, a variant that specialized it for ranged combat. Utilizing a massive Gamma Cannon and a powerful VRM-18 rack, the -4S can destroy anything at range. However, at close-range it has only twin Small Lances and a Small Modal Laser for defense. The designers considered this though and included a Supercharger in the design to help it keep its distance from enemies 13 DHS try mightily to keep it all cold.

Description
Developed by the Capellan Confederation during the First Succession War as technologies began to degrade, the TDR-5L bears many similarities to the Royal Thunderbolt, the -5Sb. However, as the ER PPC became LosTech, it was replaced with an ER Large Laser. Otherwise, the -5L is very similar to that older model, including the Small Pulse Lasers, Medium Lasers, LRM-15, Streak SRM-2, and, most importantly, the Double Heat Sinks. Though the -5L would itself be replaced by the -5LS later, scattered examples remained in the CCAF for centuries to come.

Description
As the Succession Wars dragged on, the Capellan Confederation lost even the ability to produce the lesser technologies found on the TDR-5L and so had to resort to downgrading further to the -5LS. Armed with the last remaining advanced lasers the Confederation could build at the time (an ER Large Laser and twin Small Pulses), the -5LS lost its Streak missiles and, most critically, its double heat sinks. With the DHS replaced by 15 standard heat sinks, the -5LS proved a poor variant and was quickly relegated to the dustbins of history after the lasers stopped being produceable as well.

Description
A simple battle design from Periphery Armory, Inc, the Thunderbolt-5PA does a little bit of everything. Armed primarily with a Large Chemical Laser and a LRM-10 launcher, the TDR-5PA is well suited for ranged trades. At closer ranges a trio of Medium Chemical Lasers provide support fire. At point-blank, an Inferno Rocket Launcher-10 and a pair of Heavy Machine Guns do heavy work. The TDR-5PA is effective at all ranges, truly the Swiss Army Knife of the PAI lineup!

Description
The Thunderbolt is a famous design among all MechWarriors, even out into the Periphery. This one though has swapped the right arm firepower for a newly developed Howitzer/4 with two tons of ammo. The rest of the firepower resembles most Thunderbolts: Medium Lasers, mixed LRM and SRM tubes, and some Machine Guns for those pesky infantry.

Description
Developed by Earthwerks in 3058, the TDR-8M was a new upgrade of the venerable Thunderbolt that was designed to combine aspects of successful established variants into a new form. Armed with the LRM-15 and ER Large Laser of the previous TDR-7M, the -8M swaps the other weapons for a trio of relatively new ER Medium Lasers. Additionally, the -8M carries a quartet of jump jets in the legs similarly to the old Steiner jump jet Thunderbolts. The -8M was a financial success and carried Earthwerks into the 3060s with ease.

Description
The rebirth of the Terran Hegemony brought with it a need for a restarted military sector among the core worlds of the Inner Sphere. To meet the new Hegemony's demand for material, the various corporations of the Inner Sphere got right to work on new variants for the Hegemony's war machine. One such design is the TDR-8R, a simple line brawler for the Hegemony Armed Forces. Built on a rugged 260-rated standard engine with an Endo-Composite structure for lightness, the -8R uses a Large X-Pulse Laser and a trio of Medium X-Pulse Lasers for primary firepower. A LRM-10 and SRM-2 provide variable support for the lasers. Four jump jets keep the mech mobile in any environment.

Description
The Thunderbolt-8SS is an attempt to streamline and simplify the Thunderbolt's typically eclectic loadout. It drops every weapon off the mech and replaces them all with a pair of ER PPCs with a PPC Capacitor charging them further. An Angel ECM suite keeps the mech protected while 16 double heat sinks and an advanced heat exchanger try their best to keep the mech cool but generally speaking aren't enough for aggressive pilots.

Special Note: The Thunderbolt TDR-PF2 "Skald" is a custom Community Content 'Mech.
Description
Lacking the capabilities of creating the Bushwacker BSW-PF1 with their existing factories, the St. Ives Compact turned to something similar but able to be crafted locally. Turning to the rugged and enduring Thunderbolt chassis, the Compact developed this, the so-called Skald as a partner to the Bushwacker Bard. The Skald proved an able combatant and was effective in their war with the Capellan Confederation.

Description
A simple, clean, basic arena brawler variant of the Thunderbolt, the Top Dog has shown itself to be rugged and enduring, winning a dozen matches in as many weeks during one Solaris VII season. The firepower could not be simpler: a Large Laser for range and 8 Medium Lasers for close up work. Double heat sinks and an enlarged engine manage the heat smoothly.
