Description
The first of the famous Ost family of mechs, the Ostwar is the forgotten scion of that line. The Ostwar-2M has a host of primitive technologies throughout its design such as its primitive cockpit, engine, and armor. Its primary weapon is a LRM-20, which is backed up at close-ranges by 2 Medium Lasers and 2 SRM-4s in its famous missile pod hands. Most of the Ostwar-2Ms were lost to the mists of history during the Succession Wars, but a few can still be found in the Periphery.

Description
An updated version of the primitive Ostwar developed in 2620, this variant carries 12 tons of standard BattleMech armor and a modern cockpit. The chassis has been upgraded to use Endo Steel, while an XL Engine increases the Ostwar's ground speed to 84 kmh. Eighteen double heat sinks dissipate the heat from three ER Large Lasers and twin SRM-6 launchers.

Description
A rare variant of the Ostwar, the -2N was an update of the Primitive Ostwar-2M with basic Star League technology to bring it up to spec with other mechs of its time. The weaponry on the -2N is mostly the same as the -2M except that the SRM-4s have been upgraded to SRM-6s. Otherwise it keeps the LRM-20 and the Medium Lasers. The -2N is also somewhat faster, better armored, and has better heat control than the -2M. Not many -2Ns were made before production of the Ostwar ended during the Star League era.

Description
Ostmann Industries has many dedicated fans and Periphery Arms, Inc. counts itself among them. To that end PAI produced the Ostwar OWR-2PA. The underloved member of the Ostmann lineup, the Ostwar was ripe for innovation so PAI rose to the challenge. Armed with a Large Binary Laser for primary firepower, the OWR-2PA can also call upon a Rocket Launcher-40 with an attached ammo feed for repeat firing. At long ranges, a pair of Gyrojet-10s provide extra heft. 18 heat sinks keep it all relatively cool.

Description
During the run-up to the FedCom Civil War, a wide variety of older mechs were rediscovered. One of them was the Ostwar, with plans for the mech found in a Brian Cache discovered in the Deep Periphery by a band of mercenaries. Kong Interstellar acquired the plans and produced this, a vastly upgraded version of the venerable Ostwar to complement their Ostsol lines. Built on a 260-rated Light Fusion Engine, the Ostwar-2Q carries a recognizably Ostwar loadout: a LRM-20 for ranged firepower and a pair each of Medium Pulses and Streak SRM-4s. Double heat sinks and jump jets give the mech longevity in the fight.

Description
The Ostwar was forgotten by the Inner Sphere for centuries but the Sanctuary Worlds never forgot it. Though it, like its cousin the Ostroc, was unpopular it remained in service for most of the Sanctuary Worlds history. The OWR-3D is a close-range brawler build of the Ostwar, mostly used by the Sanctuary Alliance in their war with the Taurian Concordat. Armed with a Large Modal Laser for ranged combat, the primary punch comes from a quartet of DRM-6s that can decimate anyone up close. 15 Sanctuary DHS struggle to keep it all cold while Ferro-Fibrous armor provides the necessary weight for the kit.

Description
The Ostwar was forgotten by the Inner Sphere for centuries but the Sanctuary Worlds never forgot it. Though it, like its cousin the Ostroc, was unpopular it remained in service for most of the Sanctuary Worlds history. The OWR-3F is an Ostwar variant produced expressely for the Taurian invasion and is built for manueverability and independent operation. Built on a 325-rated XL Engine and equipped with 5 Jump Jets, the -3F is unusually fast for its size. For firepower, it has an all-energy loadout of two NPCs and four Twin-Linked Small Lasers. A brace of Heat Controllers help keep the heat manageable while Endo-Steel and Ferro-Fibrous provide the needed weight.

The Ostwar was forgotten by the Inner Sphere for centuries but the Sanctuary Worlds never forgot it. Though it, like its cousin the Ostroc, was unpopular it remained in service for most of the Sanctuary Worlds history. The OWR-3N is the Sanctuary stock variant, armed with a VRM-24, twin DRM-4s, and twin Medium Electro-Lasers. The Ostwar, though fairly rare, served with distinction and spawned several variants throughout its history in the Sanctuary Worlds.
