Description
The Locust's 1M model is interesting in that it can churn out a decent volley of LRMs for such a small 'Mech. It's a great harasser, especially if you can use its speed to lob missiles into the weaker rear armor of targets. But it normally has almost no armor itself.

Description
A blend of other Locust variants through the years, the LCT-1PA comes from Periphery Armory, Inc, and is armed with their trademark weaponry. A trio of Chemical Lasers (two Small, one Medium) provide solid heat-light firepower while two Rocket Launcher-15s, one a new Reloading variant, give strong burst potential. To power all this though the LCT-1PA is powered by a fragile but effective Jury-Rigged XL engine.

Not all Periphery designs use old-style weapons. Some even use high-tech firepower such as PPCs. The LCT-2PA is one such design. Armed solely with a PPC, the -2PA uses Prototype Endo-Steel, Light Plating Armor, and a Prototype XL engine to get the necessary weight for the mammoth gun. Still, it manages to retain the high ground speed, meaning it remains a potent scout.

The 3D Locust uses Star League technology to take the concept of the 1M further. Although it carried only two LRM 5 launchers, the engineers at Achernar BattleMechs on New Avalon upgraded the armor to Ferro-Fibrous and the structure to Endo Steel. Completely lacking in close-range weaponry this variant was suitable for harassing the enemy at long range then fleeing before they could get too close.

Built in order to prove a point, that point being that light mechs can be durable too, the LCT-4H is an odd-duck. Both more and less survivable than most other lights, it packs a minimal punch but is very difficult to be rid of. Built around a massive XXL Engine, the -4H carries 9 tons of Hardened Armor for extreme protection, making it possible the most armored 20 ton mech ever designed. However, all that weight demanded a sacrifice in firepower, with a paltry six ER Small Lasers for offensive support. The LCT-4H proved able, if expensive, and saw limited production.

A weird mix of high and low tech weapons adorn this, the Locust for the Periphery. The LCT-4P was created to fill a need for cheap fire support platforms in the Periphery nations and the Mech Mortar was suggested as an option. To that end, this XL powered Locust carries a pair of MM/1s with a ton of ammo. Backing them up are a trio of Medium Lasers, though one is a Pulse version. 10 standard heat sinks keep the mech cool enough in most situations. The -4P, though it carries a XL engine, was adopted by the Periphery nations en masse and proved able, if unimpressive.

Description
The rebirth of the Terran Hegemony brought with it a need for a restarted military sector among the core worlds of the Inner Sphere. To meet the new Hegemony's demand for material, the various corporations of the Inner Sphere got right to work on new variants for the Hegemony's war machine. One such design is the LCT-5R, a high-speed interceptor design equipped with a HISC Viral Jammer to disrupt enemy systems. The -5R uses an Endo-Composite structure and XL Engine for free weight. For warload it carries a trio of X-Pulse Lasers (two Medium, one Small), and the aforementioned Viral Jammer.

Description
The 5V Locust is similar to the 3V Locust, carrying a pair of ER Medium Lasers, two RL-10s, and was protected by ferro-fibrous armor; the original LTV 160 engine was used. Built in the 3060s, its relatively low-tech design made it attractive to Periphery powers, namely the Magistracy of Canopus and Taurian Concordat.

Description
Designed by a mechtech who had the wrecked chassis of a Locust LCT-1V and who had heard of, but never seen, the ultra-light Flea FLE-14, the LCT-0D is an attempt to replicate that design using a Locust chassis. At the same time, the mechtech installed an experimental Snubgun PPC for primary armament while simultaneously stripping any backup firepower from the mech. To afford the weight and speed of the mech, an XL Engine and Endo-Steel was used. Armor is largely an afterthought.

After General Kerensky's Exodus from the Inner Sphere, the SLDF-in-Exile found themselves with plenty of Locusts to go around. The Clans that would come after retained these Locusts and decided to do something with them, crafting the Locust C. This Golden Century refit would prove popular and enduring and would be a staple of second-line units for centuries. Armed with twin ER Small Lasers and a Medium Pulse Laser, all Clan-grade, the Locust C is a simple yet effective design.
