Description
This lostech variant was used by the SLDF's Royal units and pre-dated the later, more official, CRD-2R. It upgraded the heat sinks to double heat sinks and utilized an Endo Steel internal structure to save mass. This enabled the addition of Artemis IV Fire Control Systems to the LRM launchers. The legs each hold a SRM-6 instead of the Streak SRM-2s of the later -2R. All of the ammunition was moved to the side torsos and protected by CASE.

Description
The 3D variant of the Crusader is a simple modification to make the 'Mech's heat load more manageable. Introduced in 2756 and used mostly by House Davion, the two SRM-6 launchers were replaced with two SRM-4 launchers and the machine guns were removed so that the number of heat sinks could be increased by four.

Description
The 3L variant of the Crusader takes concepts from both the 3D and the 3K models to save weight with a twist. Built for House Liao starting in 2753, the Mech has removed the LRM-15 and SRM-6 launchers and replaced them with two LRM-10 launchers and two SRM-4 launchers. This frees up room for two additional heat sinks as well as the inclusion of four GM Jetstar jump jets, two each in either side torso, giving it a jumping distance of one hundred and twenty meters.

Description
The CRD-3PA1 is a rather simple refit of the Crusader meant turn the common heavy mech into a true brawler. The LRMs are completely stripped out in place of SRM 6s, with an additional SRM-6 in the right torso for a total of 3 SRM-6s. The MG ammunition is dropped to a half-ton whilst the SRMs that formally sat in the Crusaders legs are traded for a pair of twin Reloading Rocket Launcher 20s. This massive heat load is off set by a staggering 22 heat sinks which fight to hold the heat off of an Alpha strike from the monster. Additionally, the armor profile of the mech is upgraded slightly. All of this is thanks to the Prototype XL engine that have has been installed, allowing for the onboarding of so many changes

Description
The Crusader was initially designed as a close combat BattleMech for the Star League Defense Force, but soon proved itself to be a very adaptable, multi-role design. This reliable workhorse of the SLDF, while not excelling in any one job, was capable of accomplishing just about any mission, whether it be close assault, anti-aircraft, counter-insurgency, or even reconnaissance. Its versatility and large number of manufactures ensured the Crusader its place as one of the most common heavy Mechs in the Inner Sphere.

Description
A Star League-tech retrofit of the classic CRD-3R developed by Bander BattleMechs for the mercenary market in 3054, the 4BR switches to double heat sinks and replaces the SRM-6 launchers with a pair of Streak SRM-2s. The weight saved allows an extra ton of LRM reloads for each launcher to be carried, protected by the addition of CASE in each torso.

Description
The Crusader is an old standby of Periphery MechWarriors, being inexpensive and widely available. This made it a great candidate for Periphery Arms, Inc. when they wanted to pursue a new design. The CRD-4PA replaces the LRMs with Gyrojet-20s with attached ammo feeds while also reducing the leg SRM-6s to 4-packs. Otherwise, the -4PA resembles the stock CRD-3R, albeit with a few extra heat sinks along the way.

Description
The 5K Crusader was a complete upgrade produced by Cosby BattleMech Research Firm for House Kurita. The internal structure was replaced with an endo steel chassis and the engine upgraded to a 260 XL engine. The 'Mech's primary weapons were two MRM 30 launchers carried in either arm and, as secondary weapons, two Medium Lasers split between the side torsos and two Medium Pulse Lasers in the center torso. To allow the 5K to share targeting data, it also carried a C3 slave unit, and four tons of MRM reloads was located in the CASE-protected left torso. Finally, to vent waste heat, the 'Mech used eleven double heat sinks and carried twelve tons of armor.

Description
The 5M was the official production-model upgraded variant of the Crusader for the Free Worlds League, introduced in 3049. Though using the same chassis as before the 'Mech was powered by a XL Engine and carried thirteen double heat sinks. The 5M was also capable of jumping up to one hundred and twenty meters with its four torso-mounted jump jets. The Mech was armed with two LRM-15 launchers and two medium lasers in its arms, two Streak SRM-2 launchers mounted in its legs, a Flamer and a machine gun in its right arm, and a Anti-Missile System in its head.

Description
A limited production run design, the CRD-6D was designed as an engine experiment for the Crusader chassis. Increasing the Crusader's engine to an 325-rated XL engine boosted the speed significantly while four jump jets gave even more mobility The use of Endo-Steel helped pay off the tonnage required to still mount twin LRM-10s, twin SRM-6s, and twin Medium Lasers, meaning the -6D remains combat effective even with the bonus speed.

Description
A limited production design, the CRD-6S is an attempt to explore the effectiveness of the newly-developed Enhanced LRM system. Armed with two NLRM-15s, the Crusader is more than capable of smashing its foes apart at range or up close. For backup weaponry the CRD-6S mounts two each Medium Lasers and SRM-4s. A fairly standard 325-rated XL engine keeps the Crusader moving swiftly in combat.

Description
A Kallon Industries design, the CRD-6T is an excellent heavy scout, armed for close-range and fast moving fights thanks to its close-range payload and its 325-rated XL engine and jump jets. For firepower, the -6T carries simply 12 Medium Lasers to slice opponents apart with. In the hips are a pair of Flamers for some utility, though they are largely an after-thought. The -6T proved an excellent heavy scout and is seen in Davion regiments to this day.

Description
Designed by the Combine as a line unit for the tumultuous 3060s, the Crusader-7MK demonstrates the best and the worst of the Combine at once. The mech has respectable armor covering its powerful XL engine and sports a withering array of weapons: LRM 10s, MRM 10s, Small Pulse Lasers, and an ER PPC for good measure. The downside of the mech is that it is equipped with a mere 15 standard heat sinks meaning that it is woefully unable to vent its waste heat. Pilots have taken to calling it the Heatsader and mocking the mech relentlessly.

Description
Utilizing some of the newest technology available in the Capellan Confederation, the 7L was built by Tao 'Mechworks for the CCAF. It used Stealth Armor, making it harder to target. The 'Mech also used double heat sinks and is armed with two LRM-15 launchers, two Streak SRM-4 launchers, and two ER Medium Lasers. Finally, the 'Mech carried a Guardian ECM suite to allow its Stealth Armor to work. In order to make room, the top speed was lowered to 53 km/h by replacing the engine with a Nissan Fusion 195, though jump jets offset that through increased maneuverability. Despite its Liao origins, half of the first production run was sold to the Word of Blake.

Description
Galen Cox was a complicated man, the personal friend of Victor Steiner-Davion and a famous warrior in his own right. His personal mech, a Crusader CRD-5M he named Stormcloud, eventually came to rest at the side of the throne of the Lyran Commonwealth after his death, where it remains today. However, imitators cropped up in the arenas after his famous win over Victor Vandegriff and Glen Edenhoffer in 3056. The imitators, also named Stormcloud, carry a modified loadout reminicient of the -5M. Twin LRM-15s and Medium Lasers remain but the SSRM-2s are replaced with a quartet of SRM-4s in the legs. The ammo is a little thin but sufficient for arena work.
