Description

One of the most famous and recognizable designs in history, the venerable Marauder has finally come to the Periphery. Clad in Heavy Plating Armor, the -1PA can bring its firepower to bear in almost any situation. A Heavy Rifle, enhanced with a dedicated Fire Control System, provides primary firepower while two each Large and Medium Chemical Lasers play second fiddle. It's not a complicated machine, but it's a good one, just how the Marauder should be.

Description

The Marauder-2R is the Star League Royal regiments variant of the classic and powerful Marauder. It makes minimal changes, simply upgrading the PPCs to ER PPCs and the heat sinks to doubles, but those changes are enough to give the -2R much better staying and hitting power.

Description

The 3D Marauder was a modification of the 'Mech introduced for House Davion in 2834 which removed its ammunition dependency. In order to do this, the 3D replaced the Autocannon/5 and with a Large Laser. The saved weight was used to add four more heat sinks to the 'Mech to handle the added heat burden from the large laser.

Description

Built for House Liao in 2905, the 3L attempted to make the Marauder more heat efficient (and make up for a shortage in reliable PPCs) by replacing one of the arm-mounted particle cannons with a large laser. Additionally, two more heat sinks were added to further increase the Marauder's heat efficiency.

While running cooler than the weapons they replaced, the large lasers also caused slightly less damage. Additionally, the 3M added four heat sinks to the design, making the 'Mech much more manageable for pilots who have trouble with overheating their 'Mechs.

Description

The Marauder was first built by General Motors in 2612 for use as an attack and direct fire support BattleMech. The first 'Mech to diverge from the traditional humanoid shape of previous machines, the Marauder was one of the most well-known 'Mechs in existence and originally meant to usher in a new generation of 'Mechs. Unfortunately, with the fall of the Star League, this new generation never quite materialized. On its own merits though, the Marauder was a devastatingly powerful 'Mech, outclassed only by larger machines like the Stalker and BattleMaster.

Description

In the aftermath of the Sanctuary Alliance invasion of the Taurian Concordat, the Treaty of Micros stipulated that the Sanctuary Alliance would assist in replenishing the depleted Taurian Defense Force. To that end, the Alliance produced a number of field refits of existing TDF designs, such as the Marauder. Armed with a Sanctuary-spec Scattergun/5, as well as paired NPCs and Twin-Linked Small Lasers, the Marauder MAD-3S proved to be a durable and powerful design for the TDF.

Description

This experimental variant was made at Ronin Incorporated's facility on Wallis in 3039. Techs removed the standard weaponry from a Marauder and replaced the arm mounted weapons with a Binary Laser Cannon in each arm, while the torso mounted autocannon was replaced by twin SRM-6 launchers backed by one ton of ammunition each. The Marauder-4X was also noteworthy because it used an early Endo Steel chassis. To keep the heat under control, technicians installed experimental Freezer Heat Sinks, which are tricky to manufacture but moderately effective.

Description

Possibly the apex of the Marauder artform, the MAD-5CS was built for the Battle of Tukayyid by ComStar. A durable, rugged machine with plentiful firepower and thick armor, the MAD-5CS proved a powerful weapon in the campaign against the Clans. Armed with twin ER PPCs, twin Medium Pulse Lasers, and a flexible LB-10X Autocannon with both slug and cluster munitions, the -5CS proved more than a match for many Clan machines. ComStar was so impressed by its performance that it kept the mech in service after the battle.

The 5D's primary weapons were two ER PPCs, supported by a Large Pulse Laser. The medium lasers were replaced with two Medium Pulse Lasers, while a Streak SRM-2 launcher was also added to the left torso with one ton of CASE-protected ammo. The model was protected by fourteen tons of armor and carried sixteen double heat sinks for heat management. It also had a jumping capability of up to 120 meters thanks to four jump jets mounted in its legs.

Developed for the Capellan Confederation's Shadow Lances. the -5L is a unique upgrade of the Marauder, the first locally produced variant of the design. Armed with exclusively energy weapons in the form of a pair of ER Large Lasers, another pair of ER Medium Lasers and finally an ER PPC. The -5L is also equipped with Stealth Armor to increase its protection from fire at long range. In an effort to offset this incredible heat burden Triple Strength Myomer was installed to take advantage of the guaranteed heat generated.

The 5M variant of the Marauder was introduced by the Free Worlds League. Compared to the original it replaced the standard fusion engine with an XL Engine and completely re-armed the 'Mech with recovered Star League-era weapons. Description

The 5S variant of the Marauder introduced by the Draconis Combine using captured plans for the 5D design. The variant was built around an XL engine to save weight and upgraded the heat sinks to double-strength models. Like the 5D, the 5S carried ER PPCs and medium pulse lasers, but replaced the autocannon with a Gauss Rifle. One ton of ammunition for this powerful, long-ranged weapon was carried in the left torso.

Description

Built as a multi-range combatant, the Marauder-5X is dangerous at any distance. Armed with an Ultra Autocannon/10 and a quartet of Medium Pulse Lasers, little can withstand the mech's devastating blows at short range. However, nothing is safe as the -5X also carries a pair of LRM-15s for long range firepower. Built on an Endo-Steel frame with an XL Engine for power, the MAD-5X is a threat no matter where the enemy is hiding.

Description

Designed by the Federated Suns in order to make use of the newly created Rotary Autocannon/5, the Marauder-6D takes a classic chassis and updates it with cutting edge technology. The -6D is built around a 300 rated Light Fusion Engine, giving it normal heavy mech speed at 75% the weight. In the right torso sit a pair of RAC/5s that share 4 tons of ammo between them from a bin in the left torso. Backing up the autocannons are only a quintet of ER Small Lasers, making the -6D extremely reliant on its autocannons. When they jam, the mech is essentially helpless, which has led several pilots to unfortunate ends.

Description

The rebirth of the Terran Hegemony brought with it a need for a restarted military sector among the core worlds of the Inner Sphere. To meet the new Hegemony's demand for material, the various corporations of the Inner Sphere got right to work on new variants for the Hegemony's war machine. One such design is the MAD-6R, a design built to carry a single weapon, the devastating HISC Hyper Laser. Built entirely around the massive weapon, the -6R's backup firepower is a startingly conventional twin Large and Medium Lasers. A heavy battery of heat control equipment, including an exchanger, heat bank, and the HISC Radical Heat Sink System all combine to control the weapon heat.

Armed by the Word of Blake as a test-bed for a newly invented Gauss Capacitor and equipped with twin Clan-spec Gauss Rifles, the Marauder-6W proved itself capable in testing. In addition to the cGauss Rifles the mech carries a pair of IS-spec ER Medium Lasers. The real twist on the normal Marauder formula though lies in the 6 Improved Jump Jets the mech is equipped with for maximum mobility.

Description

The 9S Marauder is built with a Light Fusion Engine and an Endo Steel chassis to save weight. The 9S also used double heat sinks to handle its heat intensive weapons payload. The 9S carried two ER PPCs as its primary weapons as well as an LB-X Autocannon/10 for long-range combat. For close ranges, the 9S was equipped with two ER medium lasers and a Flamer. The 9S was also equipped with exceptional electronic systems including an ECM Suite and a Beagle Active Probe.

A Periphery legend, the Black Marauder is simultaneously a pirate mech and also a monster given life. Description

A Clan-tech retrofit of the classic MAD-3R Marauder, designed for use by second-line garrison and solahma forces, the Marauder C replaced some of the Inner Spheroid weaponry with Clan equivalents. The Marauder C swapped the PPCs for a pair of Clan-tech Large Pulse Lasers and the standard autocannon for a Ultra AC/5 model, but retained the IS medium lasers. The munitions for the autocannon were also protected with CASE.

Description

The MAD-GLG, or Glaug, is a command mech used by Clan Star Commanders in their second-line garrison forces. An unusual design, as evidenced by its mixed tech, the Glaug was historically deployed much more frequently but has become somewhat of a rarity in the modern age, now relegated to use by secondline forces. The Glaug is designed to be able to handle itself in both long and short range fights. For long range encounters it is equipped with an AC5 and AC2 in each arm, and an ER PPC in the dorsal turret. For close range encounters it carries a Streak SRM-6 in each side torso. Two ER Small lasers round out the loadout for anti infantry purposes. Four jumpjets provides extra mobility.
