Description
The Capellan Confederation has long had to be more resourceful than its neighbors due to a weaker industrial base. To that end, when the CCAF captured a depot of Spider-7Ms from the Free Worlds League, Chancellor Sun-Tzu Liao ordered their refitting for the CCAF. Arming the Spiders with a SRM-6 and a pair of Medium Pulse Lasers brought up the firepower considerably, though to carry the weapons, a XL engine had to be mounted. Additionally, the design lost its Ferro-Fibrous armor in favor of heavier standard plate. Still, the -7C kept the speed and maneuverability and the firepower is considered a worthy trade for the armor.

Description
The 7M was an upgrade of the venerable Spider with Star League technology. It uses an Endo Steel chassis and three tons of Ferro-Fibrous armor, freeing up weight to replace the two medium lasers with two Medium Pulse Lasers while remaining just as fast and maneuverable as the base model.

The -8M was another upgrade of the venerable Spider by the FWLM, but this time upgrading the prior model, the -7M. The biggest complaint about the -7M was that it kept to single heat sinks. The -8M rectifies that with a switch to double heat sinks. Otherwise, the mechs are the same.
