Description

An early version of the Panther that is occasionally seen in the Periphery, it is armed with the ancient Tronel Large Laser in place of the PPC. This laser suffers from faulty heat exchangers and generates more heat than a standard Large Laser. Most of these have long since been retrofitted.

Description

Made as part of a backroom bet between battalion commanders in the DCMS, the PNT-9M turned out to be an actually useful design despite its oddities. Built around the idea of being the ultimate zombie mech, the Panther-9M is built around a Compact Engine that allows for the mounting of a gigantic MRM 40 in the center torso of the mech. Unfortunately, this means that it can carry no other weapons and has only limited ammunition stores as well as having no jump jets. Still, the firepower of the MRM rack is considerable, and the -9M has found limited acceptance in the wider DCMS.

Description

The 10K Panther is a high tech upgrade of the 9R model introduced by the Draconis Combine. The chassis has been rebuilt using Endo Steel construction techniques and the saved weight used to add an Artemis IV fire control system to the missile launcher, as well as upgrading the PPC to a ER PPC.

Description

The Panther has seen many, many updates over its long service life with the Draconis Combine, including the PNT-9ALAG, which increased the ground speed of the Panther substantially. As is the way of the Inner Sphere, many of these Panthers eventually were decommissioned and found their way into the Periphery, where enterprising mechtechs adjusted them into the -10PA. Keeping the higher ground speed allows the -10PA to bring its twin Chemical PPCs to bear easily and effectively. However, to do so required the installation of a Prototype XL engine.

Description

Another beautiful Periphery Armory, Inc design and one of their two Panthers, the PNT-11PA carries a rare (in PAI designs) XL engine instead of the typical Jury-Rigged one. Don't let the price tag fool you though, this mech is worth every c-bill. Armed with a pair of Medium Cannons, it can put out withering firepower against any foe. A SRM-4 backs up the cannons in case the target survives their barrage. Panther armor keep the mech up and running without issue.

Description

Flush with Draconis Combine salvage from various skirmishes, the Lyran Commonwealth has always been lost as to what to do with the disliked Panther. Eventually, with the advent of the light LB-X Autocannons, an up-and-coming general came up with this, the PNT-11S. Carrying a pair of LB-2X Autocannons for ranged fire support, the -11S can put down suppression fire at extreme range and do so virtually endlessly thanks to two generous tons of ammo. For close range protection the -11S carries the typical Panther SRM-4. A XL engine powers the mech and 4 jump jets keep it mobile on the ever-changing battlefield.

Description

The 12A Panther is an upgrade of the Panther that attempts to alleviate the heat problems for which the 10K became infamous. In order to do this, three of the single heat sinks were removed and the rest upgraded to double strength versions, the ER PPC was replaced with an ER large laser and a medium pulse laser, while the SRM-4 launcher has also been upgraded to a Streak SRM-4. It also utilizes a Targeting Computer and additional armor.

Description

The PNT-14S is an unusual Panther variant in that it is not fielded by House Kurita. Instead, it is exclusive to the Word of Blake and mounts advanced technology as is the style of the Word. Armed with a Snub-Nose PPC and twin Rocket Launcher-15s, the -14S carries a hard punch for a mech its size. A 140-rated fusion engine gives moderate ground speed but 6 Improved Jump Jets give surprising lift and mobility. Oddly, the design mounts 15 standard heat sinks as opposed to doubles and it uses a Small Cockpit for extra free tonnage.

Description

The Panther-C is a minor modification of the -10K, retaining that mech's weapons and armor profiles. All that changes is that the Panther-C drops the ArtemisIV system in favor of a C3 slave system to better integrate into the Combine's military doctrine.

Description

The Panther-CA is a minor modification of the -C which is itself a minor modification of the -10K. The only difference between the -C and the -CA is that the -CA uses a cooler-firing PPC in place of the -C's (and -10K's) ER PPC. Otherwise, the -C and -CA are identical.

This Panther has been modified and updated throughout the decades as the ancestral mech of your family in the Draconis Combine. Your family has retrofitted their Panther for excellent fire support purposes. Armed with an ER Large Laser and a LRM-10, the Ancestral Panther is a deadly and dedicated sniper. Description

Originally a Clan Tech battlefield refit done by the Bear Necessities, the Panther BN proved a popular refit among mercenary companies with access to clan salvage. Espoused as the epitome of the original 9R design, the BN is about as subtle as a brick to the face. Slightly faster than the 9R, it carries nearly double the originals weight in weaponry. With an Enhanced ER PPC tied to a targeting computer and a rare Improved LRM 20, the BN is a tough and dangerous opponent at ranges out to half a mile.

Description

The Panther PNT-SB is a rare variant, using the newly invented Binary PPC, or Bleeper, as its primary firepower. The Bleeper provides extreme firepower at good range, giving this Panther unexpected teeth. For backup, the PNT-SB has a single Streak SRM-4. 4 jump jets and, unusually for a Panther, double heat sinks round out the design.

Description

Armed with his trusty Boomstick and Chainsaw, Groovy cuts a dashing picture on the battlefield. Literally, as he dashes from target to target cutting and blasting them to pieces. That Groovy also carries a SRM-6 for ranged combat feels almost superfluous but there you have it. Don't forget to kill the OpFor dead as a deadite!
