Description

One of the premier scout 'Mechs of the Star League, the Mercury was largely lost with the fall of that great nation. However, the Mercury went with the SLDF into exile and was retained in the inventories of the nascent Clans, where it eventually spawned the Mercury II and later the Coyotl. To that end, the Not-Named Clan's descendants made use of the design in their second exile from Clan space and it featured prominently in raids against the Draconis Combine. The MCY-90, as it was known, mounts two Improved LRM-5s and a single Medium Laser. It uses an Endo-Steel frame to carry the weight. The Ferro-Fibrous armor is retained, as is the solid ground speed thanks to the MASC system.

Description

One of the premier scout 'Mechs of the Star League, the Mercury was largely lost with the fall of that great nation. However, examples survived in ComStar's armies and would be put back into production by both ComStar and the reborn Terran Hegemony in the 3050s. The MCY-97 is a refreshed ComStar variant put into production for the Battle of Tukayyid and intended exclusively for recon. To that end, it has a 160-rated engine as well as a MASC for extra speed. To improve its recon capabilities, it carries a Beagle Active Probe. For firepower, it has a simple Medium and Small Laser combo.

However, examples survived in ComStar's armies and would be put back into production by both ComStar and the reborn Terran Hegemony in the 3050s. The MCY-98 is a rather sad downgraded variant from the Succession Wars as the advanced technologies of the Star League degraded and were lost. The MCY-99 carries the same engine and weapons as the MCY-99 but loses the Ferro-Fibrous armor and the MASC system, instead just gaining a small amount of increased armor protection over the -99.

However, examples survived in ComStar's armies and would be put back into production by both ComStar and the reborn Terran Hegemony in the 3050s. The MCY-99 is the original Star League variant that made the 'Mech famous. Thanks to a 160-rated engine combined with a MASC system, the Mercury could outrun any light 'Mech of its era and thanks to two each Medium and Small Lasers could outfight anything that could possibly catch it. While the three tons of Ferro-Fibrous armor was not particularly impressive, it was enough that Mercury's had a low attrition rate during their original production runs.

The MCY-101 is the premier Terran Hegemony Mercury and debuted in the 3060s. Powered by a 160-rated light fusion engine with Endo-Steel and Ferro-Fibrous construction, the MCY-101 carries a quartet of Small X-Pulse Lasers for firepower. To support its scouting role it uses a Beagle Active Probe and to enhance the speed it uses a MASC system.

It puts all its tonnage towards carrying an ER Medium and ER Small Laser. An Improved C3 computer ensures excellent lance cohesion and a MASC gives it even more mobility.
