Description
The definition of a Periphery workhorse, the Merlin has served in Periphery armies for nigh-on 60 years and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. This Merlin, the -1PA, is armed with a Chemical PPC, twin Medium Binary Lasers, and triple Improved Small Binary Lasers, giving it tremendous punch at close range. The standard Merlin jump jets ensure it can close with the OpFor in any terrain.

Description
A little-known 4th Succession War variant, the Merlin-2A was an attempt to make the mech into more of a close-range brawling configuration. Armed primarily with a short-ranged payload of 2 SRM-4s and 4 Medium Lasers, the MLN-2A could put down respectable hurt for its time. It carried a pair of LRM-5s for token fire support duties and 18 single heat sinks did an adequate, if not totally successful, job of handling the heat. The Merlin's signature jump jets were retained. The MLN-2A went on to find moderate success in the Outworlds military, though it was later forgotten amidst the technological revival of the 3050s.

Description
In the early 3060s, the Outworlds Alliance found themselves in need of a more powerful trooper mech for their standing defensive forces and decided to upgrade their aging Merlins as a point of national pride. After taking bids, they settled on this, the Merlin-2B. Armed with the new Light Autocannon/5, a quartet of them in fact, and a Light PPC, the MLN-2B quickly proved its worth in a skirmish with Combine forces on the Outworlds planet of Alegro. Though it was less of a trooper and more of a ranged fire-support design, the Outworlds leadership was pleased and put the mech into wide production despite its advanced Endo-Steel construction.

Description
While the MLN-2B was well-received in the Outworlds, it relied on too much technology that was not locally produced so the Outworlds leadership went back to the drawing board for a more home-grown upgrade to their beloved Merlin. The MLN-2C is the result. Armed with a simple spread of weapons focused mostly at longer ranges, the -2C proved a success as well. A pair of ER Large Lasers combine with a LRM-10 for no-frills ranged firepower while a pair of Medium Lasers keep it safe up-close. 13 double heat sinks keep it cool, sort of, while the Merlin's signature jump jets remain intact.
