Description
Where the CHP-2N is the downgraded Succession Wars variant of the Champion, the -1N is the fully powered Star League variant and is the original one the designers introduced. The high speed for a mech its size remains as does the somewhat anemic armor, the main benefit the mech gets from Star League technology is found in the weaponry: a LB-10X Autocannon, a SRM 6 with an Artemis IV system, and a pair each of Medium and Small Lasers. Otherwise, the -1N is much the same as the -2N and performs the same in many ways.

Description
During the Star League when the Champion-1N was in full production, there was a frequent pilot modification that turned into a production variant. This mech, the -1N2, is exactly the same as the -1N with the exception of the heat sinks, which have been upgraded to doubles. In all other respects, the -1N2 is the same as the -1N.

Description
A variant reserved for SLDF Royal units, this Champion was introduced in 2751 and replaces all the standard weaponry with a Gauss Rifle and ER PPC. It also uses double heat sinks. This gave the -1Nb an extremely long range weapon profile and a serious punch while also solving its heat issues.

Description
The Champion debuted in 2602 as a generalist combat 'Mech with a focus on heavy reconnaissance and fast strike capabilities. While definitely faster and more maneuverable than other heavy 'Mechs, it was criticized by many for being too large, underarmed and underarmored. The armament on the Champion is considered by many to be feeble for its size, especially after losing its advanced technology from the Star League. Carrying an AC/10, a SRM 6, and a pair each of Medium and Small Lasers, the Champion is woefully underarmed for its size.

Description
In the 3060s, Bergan Industries returned to their old mech, the Champion, and decided to retrofit some of them for a more modern battlefield using new technologies. To that end, they created the CHP-2X, a limited run experimental variant. Armed with weapons for all ranges, the -2X is built around a powerful XL 300 engine for high speed. Armored with 10 tons of standard armor and built on an Endo-Steel frame, Bergan spared no expense for the mech. The -2X is armed with a LB-5X Autocannon and ER Medium Laser for long range engagement while a Medium Pulse and pair of Small Pulses backup the main weaponry of a trio of Streak SRM-6 launchers. Both the autocannon and the SRMs are fed by two tons of ammo, giving the -2X plenty of endurance.

Description
An expensive Steiner upgrade to the already-expensive CHP-2X, the 2XS removes several weapons from the original model and incorporates an XXL 300 engine. This additional tonnage is used to mount an HVAC/10 with three tons of ammo and five jump jets. Retained from the original design are two Streak SRM6 launchers and two Small Pulse Lasers. In addition, a SLIC Cockpit is used, making the design a popular command Mech among Steiner commanders operating far from Lyran space.

Description
One of the so-called Clanbuster variants developed by ComStar in the lead-up to the Battle of Tukayyid, this variant is a major upgrade that replaces the standard fusion engine with a lighter but more vulnerable Vlar 300 ExtraLight engine, the heat sinks have been upgraded to double heat sinks and two Large Lasers, surplus from the Clanbuster upgrade of the Wyvern, have been added to the 'Mech's unoccupied arms.

Description
A proper upgrade of the Champion units in ComStar's inventory, the -3P retains the XL engine of the -3N, but replaces the Ferro-Fibrous Armor for an Endo Steel skeleton that also allowed for thicker armor. That change accompanies a radical shift in armament, as the -3P carries an Ultra Class 10 Autocannon, four ER Medium Lasers, and a NARC Launcher. A ComStar developed C3i Computer was installed centerline, and an additional Double Heat Sink was installed to offset the lasers.

Description
The Champion fared poorly during the Succession Wars but those Champions that went with Kerensky on the Exodus Road fared better than their IS cousins. The Clans retained the 'Mech and even refit many of their Champions to a new Clantech standard. The so-called Champion CHP C mounts all Clan technology and is built on a 300-rated XL engine with Ferro-Fibrous armor and 5 jump jets for maneuverability. For weaponry, it carries a LB-10X Autocannon, 2 Medium Pulse Lasers, 2 ER Medium Lasers, 2 Small Pulse Lasers, and a SRM-6 with Artemis IV guidance.
