Description
In the aftermath of the Amaris Civil War and the chaos of the Succession Wars, the Nightstar, already rare and prized, began to be unable to be repaired with its advanced components. Thus, the -7J downgrade was created to make use of damaged Nightstars that lacked the proper components. Without the delicate XL engine, the -7J could no longer carry its massive Gauss Rifles, instead carrying a pair of AC/10s. The remaining weaponry was downgraded, as well as the heat sinks being replaced with the weaker standard versions of the day. The two things that stayed the same however was the mech's ponderous speed and tremendous armor capability.

Description
Reconfigured for greater speed, the 9FC variant of the Nightstar replaces the two Gauss Rifles with a pair of LB-X Autocannon/10s that are not as destructive as the weapons they replace, but can use both standard and cluster ammunition, making them effective in a variety of roles. The Small Laser has also been upgraded and the Medium Pulse Lasers downgraded, giving the Nightstar a total of three Medium Lasers. To make the 'Mech fit better into the mobile warfare doctrine of the Federated Suns and Federated Commonwealth, the 9FC model has used the saved weight to upgrade its engine, giving it a top speed of 64.8 km/h.

Description
The genesis of the Nightstar lies in the Amaris Civil War. The 'Mech itself was only produced until the the First Succession War, when both of the factories and engineers capable of producing the Nightstar were destroyed or killed. The Nightstar is armed to keep an enemy at standoff ranges. The primary weapons carried are a pair of Gauss Rifles, each of which can strip almost a ton of armor off an enemy unit. These are backed up by a ER PPC that is capable of hitting a target at six hundred and ninety meters. For defense at short ranges, the 'Mech has two Medium Pulse Lasers and an Small Laser.

Description
In the aftermath of the Battle of Tukayyid, ComStar introduced the C3 system to allow its armed forces more cohesion on the battlefield. When looking for a chassis to deploy the C3 system on, the Nightstar's lineage as a command mech came up. To support the C3 Computer network, the NSR-10CS was equipped with a pair of Gauss Rifles and a LRM 20 for ranged combat. For close range combat it carries a mere 2 ER Medium Lasers. The speed, engine, and armor remain unchanged from the stock -9J. In an unusual move, the C3 computer was hardwired into the frame of the mech, making it integral to the chassis.

Description
The DCMS, after discovering a Star League-era cache with a small number of mothballed Nightstars in it, developed this refit for the mechs as their Gauss Rifles were needed elsewhere. The NSR-10K is armed exclusively with Medium-Range Missiles, 90 tubes worth in fact. Able to simply obliterate anything at point blank ranges, the -10K isn't out of surprises. It also carries Angel ECM to shield itself as best it can while a trio of Jump Jets give it unexpected mobility. An Endo-Steel frame and a trio of Coolant Pods round out the variant's oddities.

Description
The Wolf Phoenix is a lesser-known arena design for the Nightstar that turns the powerful sniper chassis into a close-range brawler. Armed with two Large Lasers, two Medium Pulse Lasers, two Streak SRM-6s, and two Streak SRM-4s, the Wolf Phoenix excels in close-range combat exclusively.
