Description
Designed by the Inner Sphere as an OmniMech technology testbed, the Hephaestus was eventually abandoned by IS powers. The plans circulated for a time, eventually ending up in the Periphery, where the large Periphery states decided to make use of them to kickstart their own OmniMech production. To keep costs down, the Hephaestus is powered by a slow fuel cell engine and standard heat sinks. The Prime variant carries twin Light AC/5s, a trio of Medium Lasers, and 2 SRM-4s for close-range support.
Bonuses
Mech Quirk: OmniMech
Fast Refits - Mech variants can be assembled with only 1 part as long as you have sufficient parts from other variants to complete it. BA can mount on OmniMechs
Pilot Affinity: Cool Running
Adds 6 bonus heat sinking
Factions

- Saiph Triumvirate
- Sarna Supremacy
- Styk Commonality

A LRM-10 and Large Laser give ranged punch and twin Medium Lasers play second-fiddle.

To keep costs down, the Hephaestus is powered by a slow fuel cell engine and standard heat sinks. The D variant carries one real weapon: an Arrow IV artillery piece with two tons of ammo. However, it has essentially no backup weapons, purely a trio of Medium Lasers.
