Designed not for military work but for simple excavation and mining work, the Dig King MiningMech is the Inner Sphere's premier IndustrialMech for mining and digging. Armed with a large Rock Cutter and Mining Drill for even the most stubborn of rocks, the Dig King earned a good reputation in the industrial mining sector. Unfortunately, mercenary commanders get somewhat less use out of the design, not often needing to excavate a salt mine. Still, if pushed into combat, the Rock Cutter and Mining Drill make a formidable enough weapon combination, though the speed and armor leave much to be desired.

The RCL-1B is an unusual weaponized variant that exchanges the Rock Cutter of the base model for a mech-scale Buzzsaw. The mech remains an industrial however, with a poor engine, bad armor, and slow speed. The slightly lighter Buzzsaw means that slightly more firepower could be mounted. Those weapons are a pair each of Machine Guns and Medium Lasers, for simple industrial firepower.

Armed with a large Rock Cutter and Mining Drill for even the most stubborn of rocks, the Dig King earned a good reputation in the industrial mining sector. Truly broke Periphery militias realized that another common industrial tool, the Rivet Gun, can make for a powerful weapon in a pinch and so refit the Dig King with a brace of Rivet Guns to amplify its already respectable melee punch. Though the speed and armor remain underwhelming, the Rivet Guns do provide solid extra heft in melee combat.

The RCL-2 is an attempt by various minor Periphery powers to properly militarize the chassis, given the Periphery's need for firepower. Gone are the primitive components and mining tools. In their place is a larger fusion engine and real mech-scale firepower. While the Dig King RCL-2 is not an incredible war machine, it is good enough to earn a slot in Periphery militaries.

Designed not for military work but for simple excavation and mining work, the Dig King MiningMech is the Inner Sphere's premier IndustrialMech for mining and digging. The RCL-2S is an attempt by various minor Periphery powers to properly militarize the chassis. Built on a standard fusion engine and equipped with the Rock Cutter of its origin, the RCL-2S uses a brace of industrial tools for firepower including a trio of high-powered Spot Welders in the left arm and two Rivet Guns in the torso. For hardened targets the RCL-2S carries two Reloading Rocket Launcher-10s. Military grade armor keeps the mech moderately protected while it moves into combat range.
