Description
After the original Mauler was canceled by Earthwerks, the company sold the plans to the Draconis Combine who put it into limited production as the newly-christened Daboku. Armed with a similar weapons loadout to the original Mauler design, the Daboku carried four Autocannon/2s for ranged suppression as well as two LRM-10s and two Large Lasers to actually bring down hardened targets. However, because of the technology of the era, this loadout proved difficult to manage in terms of weight meaning the Daboku had to give up tonnage somewhere, specifically in armor coverage with a mere 9.5 tons of armor. Widely regarded as a failure, the Daboku was later reworked into the modern Mauler and the original prototypes were relegated to garrison forces where they slowly languished to obsolescence.
