Description
The Slagmaiden is already unique among 'Mechs and the Shieldmaiden is a more unique version of the already-distinctive Slagmaiden. The Wolf-in-Exile designers crafted the Shieldmaiden as an experiment to see how powerful they could make the eponymous shield, which combines a special LB-10X shotgun, a set of shield spikes, and the already potent large shield itself for a powerful tool on the battlefield. For extra firepower (not that any is needed) the Shieldmaiden uses a Snub-Nose PPC with FCS as well as two Clan-grade SRM-6s with Artemis IV. Clan-spec Ferro-Lamellor armor keeps the Shieldmaiden well protected.

Description
Designed in the foundries of Arc-Royal by the Exiled Wolves, the Slagmaiden appears to be a bit of a flashy show-piece intended for a life in the arenas instead of the battlefield. However, the Wolf designers managed to still make it a surprisingly balanced and effective design anyways. Built on a fragile Composite structure and a large but light 330-rated XL Engine with Supercharger, the Slagmaiden is fast enough to bring its Clan-spec Heavy Large Laser (complete with Laser Insulator) to bear. Two Inner Sphere Streak SRM-4s and ER Flamers provide backup while a Large Shield and CASE II give excellent defense, ensuring the design can stay in the fight for as long as it takes.

However, the Wolf designers decided to put in more effort than was really necessary and created something actually effective, if unusual. The SLG-X-2 has the Slagmaiden's trademark Large Shield but incorporates a unique two-shot LB-10X Autocannon into the top of the shield for surprising punch. For firepower, the SLG-X-2 carries six Inner Sphere-spec Medium Lasers, five IS-spec Flamers in the right arm, and a pair of Clan-grade ER Medium Lasers in the head thanks to a Small Cockpit. An XL Gyro and 330-rated XL Engine provide weight and power while 17 DHS struggle to keep it all cooled.

However, the Wolf designers decided to put in more effort than was really necessary and created something actually effective, if unusual. The SLG-X-5 has the Slagmaiden's trademark Large Shield but covers it in brutal spikes that let it deal tremendous damage in melee. To capitalize on the shield bashes, it carries 8 Clan-grade Machine Guns linked into two MG Arrays of four each. For ranged combat, an IS-spec ER PPC and two ER Medium Lasers provide punch. A 330-rated XL Engine with a Supercharger for extra speed. 13 DHS keep it cooled while CASE II protects the 1.5 tons of ammo.
