Description

The Stinger is a simple and effective mech and required no great updates to remain so throughout its long service history. However, this never stopped anyone from tinkering and so the Stinger has seen several Periphery upgrades, including this, the -2PA. Powered by a Prototype XL engine, it uses this extra weight to swap all the weapons for a pair of Medium Binary Lasers, giving it an excellent punch for its size.

Description

The 3G Stinger is the only mainstream variant of the Stinger to achieve any sort of popularity. First debuting in 2581, it traded the two machine guns and ammo for a second medium laser mounted on the left arm and more armor. While this variant increased the Stinger's lethality against other 'Mechs, it also made heat management a little more complicated for less experienced MechWarriors.

Description

The Royal Stinger introduced in 2720 used a XL Engine and Endo Steel chassis, to be able to mount a battery of three medium lasers and one Small Laser. The heat-sinks were upgraded to Double Heat Sinks and the speed and jumping distance of the 'Mech were also been improved slightly.

Description

The Stinger STG-3P is a 3060s variant of the Stinger that upgrades it with modern technology. Using an Endo-Steel structure permits the -3P to replace all the Stinger's weaponry with a Light PPC located in the right torso's shoulder. The -3P retains the standard Stinger movement profile and armor, ensuring the -3P's popularity with pilots.

Description

The Stinger was a light BattleMech built in 2479 as a direct competitor to the Wasp. The second-ever mass-produced recon 'Mech, the Stinger was put into service alongside the Wasp due both to the Terran Hegemony's needs for scouts and to the similarities in their design. In fact the two were so similar that General Mechanics filed suit against Earthwerks for copyright infringement. After twenty years of back-and-forth legal actions, during which Stinger production continued unabated, GM eventually dropped the matter due to the rising costs of pursuing the lawsuit. The Stinger would go on to become the second-most produced 'Mech in the Inner Sphere after the Wasp.

Description

A radical update of the venerable Stinger, the Stinger-4G departs from the mech's usual profile of being a jump-capable laser carrying scout. Designed by a mercenary tech with a dream, the -4G carries a pair of Streak SRM-4 launchers, one in each side torso, with a ton of ammo. In the already-cramped head sits an ER Small Laser. To include all this firepower, the mech uses a XL Engine and loses all of its famous jump jets. The -4G is well armored though, carrying as much as the frame can hold.

Description

This upgraded version of the Stinger produced by Earthworks Incorporated took advantage of several technologies that were rediscovered, thanks in part to the Helm Memory Core. The chassis was upgraded to a Endo Steel model, allowing it to carry an additional half-ton of armor. The 'Mech retained the medium laser but swapped the machine guns for an Anti-Missile System on its right arm and a Flamer on its left. One ton of AMS ammo was carried in the right torso while the movement profile remains the same as the base -3R.

Description

The 5R variant was created by the Taurian Concordat with assistance from Word of Blake. This upgrade of the Stinger used three tons of Ferro-Fibrous armor and carried a ER Medium Laser in the right arm and two Rocket Launcher 15s split between the side torsos. The chassis and electronics remained unchanged so that refits of existing Stingers could be carried out in a matter of months.

Description

Capable of engaging an enemy at any range, the Periphery-manufactured 5T variant of the Stinger introduced in the 3060s was armed with two MML-3 launchers, which were capable of firing both LRM and SRM ammunition, making the 5T extremely flexible. Appearing in Taurian and Magistracy units, the 5T was powered by an XL engine and was clad in three tons of Ferro-Fibrous armor.

Description

A decidedly interesting modification to the Stinger 3G, the 5PA is a Periphery Arms testbed in a new series of light 'Mech hunters. Greatly up-engined due to the use of a prototype XL180, it can keep pace with anything on the field. Armor is stripped and replaced with PAI's Light Plating system, weighing in a full ton over the standard 3G's. As far as weaponry, the 3PA switches out the two Medium Lasers for two Small Lasers, welded together in the right arm. The company needed a way to capitalize on light 'Mech weaknesses (low armor), and remove their strengths (speed/maneuverability). The solution for this model was characteristically low-tech, a pair of industrial chem Sprayers mounted into the arms containing cryogenic solution and corrosive liquid. To complement its main mission and increase its viability as a general recon 'Mech, PAI's smoke designator system was mounted into the center torso.

Description

A Stealth Armor equipped upgrade to the Stinger, this model is another of the Project Phoenix models starting distribution in the 3060s. In addition to the maximized Stealth Armor, the -6L carries a pair of Medium Lasers, while the ground speed was increased to 130 KPH by dropping the Jump Jets. Produced on Ares, Sian and Detroit, the -6L is solely in the hands of the Capellan Confederation and the Magistracy Of Canopus.

Description

Intended to operate at a longer range than most other Stinger variants, House Steiner began manufacturing the 6S in the 3060s. It used a Light Fusion Engine to push the 'Mech up to speeds of 118.8 km/h and was capable of reaching speeds of 151.2 km/h through the use of a MASC system. The 'Mech could also jump up to two hundred and ten meters. An additional weight saving measure on this variant was the use of a Small Cockpit. The 'Mech was armed with two Light Machine Guns for anti-infantry and crowd control use. To defend itself against 'Mechs and vehicles, the 6S had a single ER Medium Laser.

Description

The rebirth of the Terran Hegemony brought with it a need for a restarted military sector among the core worlds of the Inner Sphere. To meet the new Hegemony's demand for material, the various corporations of the Inner Sphere got right to work on new variants for the Hegemony's war machine. One such design is the STG-7R, a versatile and dangerous scout design. The STG-7R is built on an Endo-Steel frame with a 160-rated Light Fusion Engine for power. It uses this tonnage to carry a HISC Viral Jammer into combat to disrupt enemy communications. For firepower, it carries a pair of ER Medium Lasers and an ER Small Laser.

Description

Named after a famous athlete from Old Terra history, the Muhammad does as that old athlete did: float like a butterfly, sting like a bee. The Stinger Muhammad comes with the same principle and hits extremely hard thanks to its right arm mounted Bombast Laser. To make room for the massive weapon, the Muhammad uses an XXL Engine, an XL Gyro, and Clan-grade Endo-Steel, though the double heat sinks are Inner Sphere-spec to save on costs as the mech is already fantastically expensive. Still, with one good shot from the Bombast, it can bash anything into pieces.

Description

During the Golden Century, the Clans found use for many of the old SLDF chassis they had taken with them during the Exodus, including the Stinger. The Stinger C maintains the Stinger's classic armor and movement profiles, including the traditional jump jets, but replaces the firepower with Clan-grade technologies. An ER Medium and a Small Pulse Laser provide primary firepower while twin Machine Guns with half a ton of ammo deal with infantry forces as necessary.
