Ibex Race: Jungle Boogie

The following is a brief summary and an explanation of what requirements you need to meet in order to get the event to fire. Further details are provided but they contain spoilers. Don't read them unless you really want to know exactly what happens in the event.

Summary:

Event #3d in the The Need For Speed event chain.

Blaze lets you know about an upcoming race.

Event Trigger Requirements:

• The Argo is not currently traveling to a new system
• The Argo is in a system with a tropical world
• You picked the Ibex RV in the event "The Need For Speed"
• Blaze is a member of the crew
• Blaze is uninjured
• You have not already completed the Jungle Boogie race

You have a message from Blaze. Apparently we've arrived in the system just in time for a race, and she needs to know whether to sign up:

Commander, if we're going to do this race, there are a few things you need to know. This one takes place in the jungle, so we have a few options. I can push hard and drive aggressively, but we'll want to watch out when the jungle gets too dense. On the other hand, I can play it a bit safer and hope to make up the time in the straightaways. Like most of these races, there's also an optional "shortcut" route; this one appears to run through a corrosive spore field. Just let me know how you'd like to proceed, and I'll get things ready to go. Of course if we don't have time, I understand.

Option A - "Drive aggressively.":

Blaze put the pedal to the metal, and started off strong. Even when the fog got thick enough to cut, the superior handling of the Ibex let Blaze avoid obstacle after obstacle. After the main pack got tangled in a pileup after some yokel missed a turn, the rest of the race wasn't even close, turning into an easy win.

Result:

• Morale increased by 2
• Company C-Bills increased by 100,000
• 1 race win added to season record

Option B - "Play it safe.":

Blaze cautiously navigated the tight turns of the jungle, and when the thick mist obscured the track, she never missed a beat. As the pack came into the view of the finish line, Blaze pulled ahead, eking out a narrow win.

Result:

• Morale increased by 1
• Company C-Bills increased by 100,000
• 1 race win added to season record

Option C - "Take the shortcut.":

You were confident that the armor plating of the Ibex could survive the corrosive spore clouds, but you apparently forgot that the clouds also slow movement. Halfway through the cloud, Blaze's canopy was breached by the corrosive spores, bringing her race to a halt and requiring a CASEVAC. Blaze and the Ibex will be out of commission for a while.

Result:

• Morale decreased by 2
• Company C-Bills decreased by 100,000
• 1 race loss added to season record
• Blaze gains 2 injuries
• Company Mech Tech skill reduced by 2 for 7 days

Option D - "Hold off on racing for now.":

Blaze knows that contracts are more important than racing. Besides, there are plenty of other races to run.

Result:

• No change

Note: selecting this option does not lock you out of accepting the Jungle Boogie race event in the future.
