Description
One of the earliest ultralight BattleMechs, the Junior was develpoed by House Davion during the Age of War as a cheap weapon testing platform but quickly found a use as a light trooper design for militias. The Junior, being among the first ultralights, was quickly outpaced by other later designs. It is slow by ultralight standards but at least is well-armed and armored for its weight class. Armed with a Medium Laser and twin Small lasers and clad in two tons of armor, the Junior can easily win a fight against other ultralight units. House Davion has kept the Junior in off-and-on production for centuries and it is currently being produced once again.

One of the earliest ultralight BattleMechs, the Junior was develpoed by House Davion during the Age of War as a cheap weapon testing platform but quickly found a use as a light trooper design for militias. During the 3040s, as the Helm Core was being spread throughout the Inner Sphere, the Federated Suns returned to the Junior and upgraded it for the modern era. The engine was improved to an XL, the structure was given the Endo-Steel treatment, and the weight saved was used to upgrade the weapons to three Medium Lasers. The JNR-8P became the standard model and went on to spawn several refits of its own.

Description
The Junior was one of the earliest ultralight BattleMechs and remained a point of national pride for the Federated Suns for centuries. However, the aging chassis proved unable to keep up with modern technologies and so House Davion ordered it updated for modern times. One such design was the JNR-9A. Built with an XL engine, Endo-Steel frame, and Ferro-Fibrous armor along with a Small Cockpit, the JNR-9A has enough free weight to carry a Light Autocannon/2 (a weapon that weighs a full 40% of the entire design's maximum tonnage). For backup firepower, the JNR-9A carries two ER Small Lasers.

Description
The Junior has seen several experimental upgrades in its centuries of service, one of which is the JNR-9L. Armed with cutting-edge weight-saving technologies, the -9L is an experiment around seeing if a physical weapon can work even on ultralight BattleMechs. In this case, the Junior is armed with a BattleMech Lance for improved charge attacks. To carry this weapon as well as manage to have enough speed for a powerful charge, the JNR-9L uses Composite structure, Heavy Ferro-Fibrous armor, and an XL engine. For conventional firepower the -9L carries only a Medium Laser and two ER Small Lasers.

Description
Mercury's original pilot was MechWarrior Matthew Chisholm (a distant relative of the commander of Chisholm's Raiders, a Davion-aligned mercenary unit), who painted his Mercury flat silver and was a renowned scout and raider. It seems that his highly customized Junior eventually made it to the gameworld arenas, where it found success in the ultralight category. Mercury is built on a 60-rated XL engine with Endo-Steel bones and rare Clan-sourced Ferro-Fibrous armor. For firepower, Mercury uses an ER Medium and ER Small Laser, with a pair of Rocket Launcher-20s for unexpected punch.
