Description

Originally deployed by the Star League, the Lynx was purpose built as a rapid strike BattleMech by Blue Shot Weapons on Solaris VII. The small production runs for the design ensured that while it remained a popular unit, it was never very numerous and suffered once Blue Shot's factory was destroyed during the Succession Wars. The variant known as the -8Q is a stopgap model created during the Succession Wars to keep damaged Lynxes functioning. It uses a standard engine and heat sinks, which necessitated the removal of the torso mounted Medium Lasers. The ER PPC was also downgraded to a standard Large Laser, resulting in the -8Q having a pair of Large Lasers and a pair of Medium Lasers.

Recently reintroduced to the Inner Sphere, the -9Q Lynx is licensed and built in both the former Federated Commonwealth and the Draconis Combine. It is armed with an ER PPC, a Large Laser, and a quartet of Medium Lasers.

The LNX-9R is a modern variant that replaces the standard Large Laser on the 9Q with an ER model and moves it to the Left Arm but otherwise is the same as the -9Q.
