Description
The Dakota Transport Gunship was designed as a carrier for infantry squads and was equipped with gunports along the sides for the carrying infantry to provide their own covering fire while the Dakota was on the move. After the development of Inner Sphere Battle Armor, the Dakota was quickly refit to accomodate a BA squad. Because of the Dakota's ease of maintenance and deployment, it became ubiquitous on the battlefields of the Inner Sphere.
