A Dish Served Cold - Rescue

The following is a brief summary and an explanation of what requirements you need to meet in order to get the event to fire. Further details are provided but they contain spoilers. Don't read them unless you really want to know exactly what happens in the event.

Summary:

Event #2b in the A Dish Served Cold event chain.

Sumire and Darius argue over what to do about the contents an intercepted Clan Wolf communiqué.

Event Details:

Some time after Max's disappearance, Darius and Sumire bring you a summary of intercepted Clan Wolf communications. Apparently a MechWarrior matching Max's description was captured trying to sneak into a Forward Operating Base with a bomb, and is currently being held in a secure facility in New Bergen before his scheduled execution. Predictably, Darius wants to mount a rescue op and Sumire is arguing against it.

"Commander. I know Max made a mistake, but I don't like the idea of leaving him to the Clanners-" Darius begins.

"But actions have consequences. Max knew the risks, and I don't think we should have to pay for his stupidity-" Sumire interrupts.

"Enough, both of you! Let me think it over. Dismissed."

Option A - "Mount the rescue op.":

You make the announcement to ready the Argo for jump transit to New Bergen. You've invested too much time and money in Max to leave him behind.

A travel contract name "A Dish Served Cold - Rescue" has been added to the Command Center. Max will die if you do not complete the contract.

Result:

• Contract "A Dish Served Cold - Rescue" in system New Bergen added to Command Center

Note:

• Choosing this option and completing the mission unlocks another event called "A Dish Served Cold - Rescue Aftermath".
• After 45 days there is a chance that another event called "A Dish Served Cold - Rescue Failure" will occur if you haven't completed the rescue mission by then.

Option B - "Leave Max to his fate.":

You quietly inform Darius, Sumire and the rest of the senior staff that the company will not be mounting a rescue op for Max. You made it abundantly clear to him before he left that his revenge fantasy was his alone, and you wouldn't be risking company assets for his pride. Better to lose one fool than risk the whole company.

Not long after Farah forwards the following intercepted Clan Wolf message:

Commander, I'm 99% confident that the following message refers to Max. I'm sorry.
