Description
This arena brawler is called the Ion Raptor, named for its inventive gladiator creator, The Raptor (real name unknown). Designed in concert with Zellbringen Stables (who later went on to sell a more reasonable version named the Ion on the market), the Ion Raptor is a Clantech frankenmech in the veins of the Prometheus. Armed with a battery of six Inner Sphere-spec Light PPCs and four Clan-spec Streak SRM-4s and powered by a Clan XL Engine, the real innovation on the Ion Raptor is its use of Laser Heat Sinks, a rare and temperamental technology. The mech's arena record speaks for itself though, with a plethora of wins backing its weird loadout.

Originally based on a Clan-tech frankenmech arena design called the Ion Raptor, the Ion is a more sober, all Inner Sphere technology, version meant for sale on the market. Powered by a 280-rated Light Fusion Engine and built on a lightweight Endo-Steel frame, the Ion carries a powerful punch: 6 Light PPCs provide ranged firepower while 4 SRM-4s give short-ranged punch. 15 DHS strain to keep the mech cool. The Ion was a moderate success with the Great Houses and appears in all five militaries.
