Description

The earliest version used standard heat sinks and its Primitive Engine could only manage 30 km/h. This proved to be a challenge as the early Helepolis needed to completely stop to fire the Sniper artillery and then start moving again before counter-battery fire could destroy the unit. Twenty and a half tons of Primitive Armor protected the Helepolis from enemy fire. The weight and bulk of the primitive systems prevented the designers from installing the long range missiles used on later models.

Description

Designed as the production variant of a unique mercenary Helepolis, nicknamed the Caliente, the Helepolis-2C had a troubled birth. Armed with a Sniper Artillery Piece and an Arrow IV Missile system, both of which pack Inferno ammunition, the -2C and its source Caliente are clearly made to destroy urban, civilian environments. This has led to the mech not receiving many buyers, though it has found a home with the Draconis Combine, whose penchant for waging total war is well known.

Description

While the Helepolis is famous for its Sniper Artillery Piece, it was not the only piece of artillery that the Star League tried on the chassis. An earlier experimental version of the Helepolis carried an Arrow IV system instead of the Sniper. With the extra tonnage saved from removing the Sniper as well as the Large Laser, the HEP-2G also carries a pair of LRM 15s for additional missile support. The close-range Medium Laser and SRM 6 remain in place.

Description

First unleashed by the Terran Hegemony in 2460, the Helepolis is a ponderous BattleMech designed to deliver artillery fire. Following the destruction of the production facilities in 2775, the design was lost during the Succession Wars. The Helepolis is built around a Sniper Artillery Piece. The 'Mech does carry some backup weapons to augment its screening forces, defending itself with a LRM-10 and Large Laser. If an enemy gets close, the MechWarrior can call upon a SRM-6 and a Medium Laser.

Description

Another experimental Star League variant of the Helepolis, the HEP-2I approaches the angle of artillery support from a different angle. Where the HEP-2H carries a Sniper, the HEP-2I instead divides its tonnage into a pair of Thumper Artillery Pieces. For close-range support though, the HEP-2I has only a quartet of Medium Lasers. 4 tons of Thumper ammo keep the dual cannons firing.

Description

A staple of the Age of War that endured through the centuries since, the Helepolis is a powerful and deadly artillery chassis. However, sometimes you don't need artillery, you need a line combat mech and so refits have existed for the Helepolis for centuries. This one is a Periphery refit built around a Sniper Artillery Cannon. Backing the Cannon are a Large and Medium Laser, a LRM-10, and a SRM-6. 10 standard heat sinks are joined by 5 Freezer DHS to keep the mech cooled while a 300-rated Prototype XL provides plenty of power for the mech.

Description

A staple of the Age of War that endured through the centuries since, the Helepolis is a powerful and deadly artillery chassis. However, sometimes you don't need artillery, you need a line combat mech and so refits have existed for the Helepolis for centuries. This refit mounts twin Thumper Artillery Cannons for a brutal point-blank punch. Four Medium Lasers provide ammo-free firepower while a MASC speeds up the design's slow 225-rated engine. Plenty of Freezer DHS keep it all chilly.

Description

One of the strangest Helepolis variants, the HEP-5B goes for volume over precision. Using a Bombard/12 and Bombard/6 would be volume enough but it also mixes in a Sirocco system for maximum target saturation. Between 5 tons of ammo for the Bombards and 3 for the Sirocco, it has the ammo endurance to fire forever. The only downside to the mech is that it has essentially no close-range defenses, with only a trio of Medium Electro-Lasers covering the minimum ranges on the artillery. Endo-Steel pays for the tonnage and 16 DHS try, but fail, to keep the heat contained.

Description

The Sanctuary Worlds had a devil of a time with reproducing tube artillery early in their history and almost shelved the Helepolis entirely. However, a breakthrough in manufacturing processes in 2768 saved the mech from total obscurity and the Sanctuary powers put it back into production. Armed still with its traditional Sniper Artillery Piece, the Helepolis serves the same purpose for the Sanctuary that it did in the Hegemony: artillery support. The backup weapons are fairly mundane: some DRMs, some VRMs, and a few Electro-Lasers. It's really all about that Sniper though and the Helepolis is used accordingly.

Description

With the Helepolis back in production, the Sanctuary Worlds powers developed new uses for the design, including this, the HEP-5J. Using the power of an XL Engine, the -5J up-cores the 'Mech to a 300-rated core and even adds four Jump Jets to max out the maneuverability. For firepower, the Sniper Artillery Piece remains in place, joined by a long-ranged NPC. Up close, a Medium Lance and DRM-4 protect the 'Mech. 3 total tons of SHIELD-protected ammo keep the mech safe while the traditionally good Helepolis armor is improved to Ferro-Fibrous.

Description

With the Helepolis back in production, the Sanctuary Worlds powers developed new uses for the design, including this, the HEP-5T. Making use of the largest artillery piece to grace the battlefield, the -5T brings its Long Tom Artillery Piece to battle. To mount the massive weapon requires an XL Engine and loses most of its support weapons, dropping to purely three Twin-Linked Small Lasers. 14 DHS keep the main gun cold in most environments while four tons of ammo keep it firing constantly. The -5T is rarely fielded but is deadly every time it appears.

Description

Named for the graffiti found on the side of the barrel of its primary weapon, ''Boomstick'' as it came to be called is a monstrous gladiator mech capable of extreme damage against unsuspecting opponents. When a Helepolis walks into the arena, opponents laugh and dismiss it, only for the Sniper Artillery Cannon to blow limbs asunder as the Boomstick rampages forward. The Clan-spec ER PPC and IS-spec Snub-Nose PPC provide that extra sting of insult to injury as Boomstick stands over its defeated foes.
