Description
Developed by the Federated Suns during the Age of War, the original primitive Wolverine was introduced in 2471. Designed to supplement the slower Mackie and Battleaxe, the Wolverine proved a generally adept and maneuverable support design. It would go on to become a mainstay of the AFFS for centuries to come. The WVR-1R mounted an Autocannon/5 with 2 tons of ammunition in the right arm and a Medium Laser in the head to provide coverage in the weak zone sixty-meters inside the main gun's reach.

Description
Built to start and end the fight, the Wolverine 2P was designed with a prototype Endo Steel chassis, and a prototype XL engine. This starting point results in a front line terror bringing 16 tons of armour and a top speed of 86.4 km/h. Three SRM 4 launchers and three Medium Chemical Lasers are the primary armament, dishing out damage that has to be respected on a frame this heavily armoured. In addition to the Wolverine comms suite, the 2P also employs a Periphery TAG system to ensure priority targets are identified. And, once identified, the 2P can unleash a surprise Light Cannon as well, making short work of most targets. Finally, thirteen heat sinks ensure that this mech runs cool even in the harshest environments.

Description
Built to brawl with just about anything and win, the WVR-2PA is commonly called the Boomstick by its pilots due to the incredible right hook it can deliver using twin Heavy Cannons. However, once the Heavy Cannons are expended, the Boomstick only has five Small Lasers to confront foes with, meaning pilots are advised to keep mobile and to be cautious about using the Cannons unwisely.

One of the many early BattleMechs to come to the Sanctuary Worlds, the Wolverine proved its worth during their long isolation. The WVR-4D is a simple and clean refit of the old Wolverine, built for rugged simplicity. Armed with a Double-Barrel AC/15 in the right arm and a Large Modal Laser in the left arm, it has a gun for all purposes. Backing up the big guns is a single DRM-4. The -4D found rapid acceptance in Sanctuary armies and proved popular for its heavy punch.

Description
One of the many early BattleMechs to come to the Sanctuary Worlds, the Wolverine proved its worth during their long isolation. A somewhat more radical refit of the venerable Wolverine, the WVR-4G is armed with a battery of close-range firepower centered on a Scattergun/15. A Medium Lance provides armor penetration while twin APM-4s give plenty of effective battlefield control. Finally, a Gatling Gun assists the Scattergun in seeking critical damage. The 5 tons of ammo are protected by SHIELD while a Heat Negator helps keep heat managed somewhat.

Description
One of the many early BattleMechs to come to the Sanctuary Worlds, the Wolverine proved its worth during their long isolation. The WVR-4R is the base Sanctuary model, armed simply and effectively with a DBAC/5 as its primary weapon. A Twin-Linked Laser and two DRM-4s play second-fiddle to the autocannon while 5 jump jets and Sanctuary-spec Ferro-Fibrous armor keep it in the fight. The WVR-4R would go on to inspire several new variants and still serves with distinction in Sanctuary armies.

Description
One of the many early BattleMechs to come to the Sanctuary Worlds, the Wolverine proved its worth during their long isolation. The WVR-4S is one of the many Wolverine variants introduced by the Sanctuary Worlds and focuses on longer-ranged combat than most other mechs. Armed with a pair of Scattergun/5s and a VRM-6, the -4S has the range to take down anything. Up close it has a Twin-Linked Laser for defense. Interestingly, the Scatterguns are protected by Modular Plating Mk. 4 and all the ammo is SHIELDed. Finally, to cap it off, it carries a Sanctuary Supercharger for bursts of speed. An XL Engine, Endo-Steel, and Ferro-Fibrous provide the necessary tonnage.

Description
The 6D is a Davion variant of the classic Wolverine that sprung up during the Succession Wars. Upgrading the Autocannon 5 to an Autocannon 10, the WVR-6D can pack a greater punch at a distance. To make room for the added bulk of the AC10, the SRM launcher needed to be removed, and overall armor protection was reduced.

Wolverines are unusual mechs, this one more than others even. Armed with a mammoth AC/20 for an incredible point-blank punch, the -6PA packs even more heat with a trio of RL-10s for backup, ensuring it can decimate just about anything its own size or smaller in one salvo. A lone Medium Laser is the only concession to ammo-free firepower.

Description
Developed by the Taurian Concordat in the Star League era, the WVR-6T is a decidedly Periphery refit of the venerable Wolverine. Where the standard WVR-6R carries a SRM-6, the -6T instead carries a quartet of Machine Guns for dealing with softer targets. A ton of ammo is plenty of ammo for the four MGs. Finally, with the spare remaining ton, the -6T adds a second Medium Laser to the right arm alongside the Autocannon/5. The WVR-6T proved popular with Taurian garrison forces and would remain a popular refit for centuries.

Description
The 7D variant of the Wolverine is a major upgrade to the design introduced by the Federated Suns. The engine was replaced with a XL version and the armor has been upgraded to Ferro-Fibrous material with an extra half-ton added. To increase the Wolverine's speed MASC has been added. Finally, the weapons payload has been upgraded to a Ultra Autocannon/5 and a Medium Pulse Laser. The design retains its jumping capability, as well as the SRM-6, although CASE now protects the SRM reloads.

Description
Another major upgrade of the Wolverine, the 7K model is also built with an XL Engine. The primary weapon is a Large Pulse Laser and a Small Pulse Laser in the right arm which is backed up by a Medium Pulse Laser in the head and two SRM-6 launchers in the left and right torsos with one ton of reloads each. The 'Mech uses thirteen double heat sinks to dissipate the added heat from the laser arsenal. Additionally, the 7K does have jump jets and while still carrying standard armor it increases the amount by one and a half tons for added protection.

Description
The 8K Wolverine was first introduced for the Combine in the 3060s when Victory Industries decided to update the design. It is built using an XL engine for power and uses fifteen double heat sinks for its high heat load. This variant carries as its main weapon an ER PPC in the right arm backed up by an ER medium laser also in the right arm and a medium pulse laser in the head. Finally, to exploit any weak points in an enemy's armor, the 'Mech carries a Streak SRM-6 launcher in the left torso along with one ton of ammo. Twelve tons of armor with CASE provide additional protection.

Description
The rebirth of the Terran Hegemony brought with it a need for a restarted military sector among the core worlds of the Inner Sphere. To meet the new Hegemony's demand for material, the various corporations of the Inner Sphere got right to work on new variants for the Hegemony's war machine. One such design is the WVR-8R, a powerful and versatile brawler design. Armed with a Rotary AC/5 for primary firepower, the -8R uses a Streak SRM-4 and a Medium X-Pulse Laser for backup firepower. 5 jump jets keep the mech moving while 12 DHS keep it all well cooled.
