Description
In the 3060s, the Hanseatic League's local military production had reached the point where the Council of Merchants decided to invest in a home-grown BattleMech design to bolster national pride. Designated the Surtur, the mech was based on rare Valkyrie IIs that the League had acquired from the Lyran Commonwealth (who got them in salvage during the FedCom Civil War). Upgraded with an XL Engine, the Surtur was intended as a close-range design. Armed with 7 Flamers for shutting down opponents, a pair of SRM-6s provided the main firepower for the mech while a BattleMech Sword combined with a Supercharger lets the Surtur slice apart foes in melee.

Upgraded with an XL Engine, the Surtur was intended as a close-range design. Armed with a Large Pulse Laser and twin Medium Lasers for ranged combat as well as 6 Machine Guns in two MG Arrays for shredding up close as well as a BattleMech Sword, the Surtur proved an able combatant and was well loved by the Hanseatic military.
