Description

Found on the planet Exedor during some massive development projects after the Fourth Succession War, the prototype Firebee-1B hearkened back to the original primitive WAM model. The chassis was salvaged, and used as a testbed for new and cost-saving technologies. It had been built with Endo Steel for weight savings, so a spare 210 XLFE was added to both increase ground speed and maximize space for test systems. A cutting-edge Thunderbolt 10 launcher, supplied with two tons of ammo, was chosen as its primary weapon. An MRM10 was mounted on the ‘Mech’s left arm, and twin Rocket Launcher 10s were subbed in where the torso SRM2s would normally go, presumably to test their viability as cheaper last-ditch, holdout, or firepower enhancement systems.

Description

A late Periphery design, the FRB-2A is an attempt at extremely effective burst damage on a mech. Built on an XL Engine, the -2A uses that saved weight to carry an extremely heavy punch, 90 Rocket Launcher tubes, which allows it to instantly destroy any opposing light mech it can catch. For token ranged combat it carries a PPC. To keep the mech cold but keep prices low, the designers resurrected the old Prototype Double Heat Sinks which, though volatile, work nicely to keep the -2A running. Many pilots though remove the proto-DHS eventually for standard heat sinks due to trouble replacing them.

Description

Originally designated the Weapon-Armed 'Mech-Alpha, the first generation BattleMech produced by the Capellan Confederation in 2483 was widely known for its use of Inferno missiles. After eleven years of service, a second generation model began production on Boardwalk, and observers noted that this second-generation version was not a WAM-B, but a Fire-B prompting the BattleMech to be re-designated as the FRB-1E Firebee. The 2E Firebee mounts a Large Laser, giving it respectable firepower. Up close, four SRM-2 launcher can unleash eight missiles.

Description

Designed for ammoless operations, the FRB-2L is a deep-raid 'Mech that packs a fearsome punch if cornered. It has a quartet each of Medium Lasers and Medium Pulse Lasers. A battery of Double Heat Sinks struggle to keep the mech cool for continuous combat, though the -2L generally is a hit and run design. The FRB-2L found immediate acceptance into the Capellan Confederation's armed forces and has served with distinction ever since.

Description

During the Clan Invasion, the Capellan Confederation decided to resurrect their ancient Firebee design as a matter of national pride. The Chancellor demanded it be brought up to modern technology standards and this, the FRB-2S, was the result. Still packing the Large Laser of the original, the SRM-2s have been improved to Streak SRM-2 launchers. An XL Engine provides power and keeps the mech going at acceptable, if low, speeds. The mech's only other serious downsides are a lack of CASE and its use of standard heat sinks.

Description

The original Firebee used a single LRM-5 backed up by a trio of SRM-2s. The Primitive Engine provided a top speed of 85 km/h, more than enough to engage armored vehicles and infantry, and supporting heavier units. The lack of jump jets, combined with six and a half tons of Primitive Armor, forced pilots to pay attention to the terrain to insure they could move effectively.
